Full Job Description
The Role: Senior Financial Analyst

Reporting to the Senior Manager Finance, this role is responsible for providing financial analytical support for the evaluation of locations and markets where investment opportunities are being considered. Will play a supporting role in the budgeting and administration of real estate occupancy costs and capital investment.

What you will be doing:
  • Prepare proforma models analyzing greenfield, relocation, expansion and other real estate market opportunities including scenario and sensitivity analysis.
  • Coordinate with the Director, Market Development to obtain market research inputs and preliminary sales projections for inclusion in financial models.
  • Gather and synthesize sales, margin and cost data for existing store base and extrapolate appropriate information developing metrics/key performance indicators to be applied to the financial modelling of new store location projects.
  • Present financial component of real estate deals to the Executive committee
  • Keep up-to-date on changes in provincial pharmacy legislation and update financial models accordingly.
  • Review proformas with Operations and Merchandising in accordance with company's Real Estate Committee approval process.
  • Assist in the Lease Renewal process by analyzing and reporting on latest store performance
  • Support the continuous improvement of the company's financial modeling process by analyzing and validating key proforma assumptions including a post-opening review of projects.
  • Prepare budgets and forecasts of real estate occupancy costs.
  • Work with the Director, Market Development providing financial inputs for integration into the Real Estate database for use by the Real Estate and Construction teams
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports and/or analysis as required to support business partners for decision making
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support Rexall Pharmacy Group Ltd.


How you will succeed:
  • University degree in Business or relevant discipline, with a CPA designation or working towards it, or an MBA
  • 3-5 years' experience developed in a financial analytical capacity in a retail or real estate environment.
  • Exceptional financial analytical ability and statistical analysis skills preferably developed in a retail environment.
  • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Applications: Excel, Access, Power Point, Word. JDE experience an asset.
  • Able to interpret and present results in an engaging, meaningful way.
  • Strong decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Proactive and continuous improvement mindset to help stay ahead of and be able to respond quickly to business issues or opportunities
