SENIOR FINANCIAL ANALYST - CALGARY (CAT)We are seeking Senior Financial Analyst to join our Financial Planning & Analysis team, with a core focus on divisional support and operational reporting and planning. This role will act as a strategic finance partner to divisional leaders, bridging the gap between financial data and business decision-making. You will be instrumental in driving financial clarity, delivering insights, and supporting long-term planning for our operations.
Responsibilities:
Divisional & Operational Support
- Ensure that Trican's core value, "Safe equipment and operations" is the priority in all activities
- Act as a finance business partner to divisional leaders by translating financial data into actionable insights that guide operational decisions
- Prepare and present monthly financial performance reports, including variance analysis, key business commentary and driving follow-up with operational leaders
- Own and lead the development of divisional operating and capital budgets, forecasts, and scenario modelling, ensuring alignment with corporate planning cycles
- Partner with divisional operations, engineering and sales teams to provide financial leadership and guidance on bidding and estimating and operational planning and analysis
- Produce detailed customer profitability analyses to assess performance and trends
- Monitor KPIs and industry trends to identify opportunities, risks, and performance improvement initiatives
- Drive accountability for financial performance by identifying gaps and partnering with leaders to execute improvement initiatives
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Deliver in-depth P&L and performance analysis, translating financial results into strategic insights for both divisional and senior leadership
- Develop advanced financial models, scenario analyses, and business cases to support strategic initiatives, capital investments and operational decisions
- Collaborate with cross-function teams to ensure accurate forecasting and timely reporting
- Contribute to refinement of internal financial reporting tools, dashboards, and processes
- Contribute and actively embrace ongoing change as Trican continues to evolve systems usage with transition to Oracle ERP
- Develop forward-looking and predictive analyses to anticipate financial performance and operational outcomes
- Drive continuous improvement of reporting, dashboards, and analytical tools to enhance decision support capability
Experience & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting preferred; equivalent programs considered
- CPA designation or progress toward one preferred; CFA or MBA is an asset
- 5-8+ years of relevant experience in financial analysis, operational finance/accounting, or business partnering roles
- Advanced financial modeling skills and high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong business acumen with a deep understanding of operational and financial drivers
- Demonstrated ability to influence decision-making at senior operational levels
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy
- Collaborative and professional communication style with strong interpersonal skills
- Proven problem-solving abilities in complex situations
- Adaptable, able to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated with a track record of delivering high-quality work independently
- Knowledge of the oil and gas and/or energy services sector is an asset
- Experience with Oracle ERP and analytics, Microsoft Power BI or similar analytics tools is a plus
