Full Job Description
Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for an onsite Senior Financial Analyst at our corporate office in Richmond, VA. This position is responsible for forecasting, financial analysis, long-term planning, and strategically analyzing the business to support executive decision making.

As the Senior Financial Analyst you will be expected to serve as a key partner to management by leading financial analyses, developing executive reporting, and providing actionable insights through financial modeling, KPI analysis, and strategic evaluations. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical and modeling capabilities, intellectual curiosity, and strong interpersonal skills to communicate complex financial information across all levels of the organization.

Your additional responsibilities at Senior Financial Analyst will include:

  • Analyzes historical and current financial data to understand the company's financial condition.
  • Develops financial models, valuations, forecasts, and scenario analyses to evaluate business performance, capital investments, acquisitions, and other strategic opportunities.
  • Identifies strategic opportunities and business risks associated with investments, acquisitions, and other corporate initiatives, and advises senior management on related financial matters.
  • Develops financial analyses and business cases to support capital expenditure requests, including ROI, IRR, NPV, and payback evaluations.
  • Manages financial due diligence and post-investment valuation analysis.
  • Prepares data-driven reports, presentations, and recommendations for executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Performs peer group tracking and competitive benchmarking analyses.
  • Owns financial and operational KPI reporting and develops analyses to monitor performance.
  • Performs ad hoc financial analyses and special projects as requested by senior management.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of market conditions and industry trends.


Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, investment banking, or a related analytical role
  • 2+ years of financial modeling experience
  • Investment banking, corporate development, or transaction advisory experience preferred, but not required. Experience with SAP, Capital IQ (or similar financial research platforms), executive or Board-level reporting, and M&A analysis is also preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate finance, financial modeling, data analysis, and various enterprise valuation methodologies
  • Ability to analyze financial data, prepare executive and Board-level reporting, and create detailed financial projections, while maintaining strong attention to detail
  • Ability to think strategically and focus on the big picture while understanding the details
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to present complex data to all levels of stakeholders
  • Inquisitive mindset with a desire to learn, grow, and continuously improve
  • Familiarity with financial research platforms and industry data sources
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
