Job Description:

The Senior Finance Advisor, Refining acts as a deputy for the Refinery Senior Finance Manager, partnering with key business collaborators to shape strategy, drive performance, and unlock sustainable value.

The role represents the future of finance-value-led, technology-enabled, and simplified-integrating financial insight, operational performance, and digital capability to support better, faster decision-making.

This is a high-impact leadership role, with exposure across strategy, operations, and performance.

Key accountabilities
  • Support the business to drive margin, cost, and capital efficiency improvements through structured interventions
  • Drive a structured Vulnerabilities and Opportunities process, framing choices for the leadership team to support delivery of the annual plan
  • Ensure decisions reflect end-to-end value optimization, not siloed metrics
  • Trusted business partner, owning relationships with the performance superintendent, business development superintendent and material refinery budget holders
  • Integration point between the business and FP&A team
  • Deputy to the Refinery Senior Finance Manager
  • Represent Finance at key decision-making forums, e.g. Cost / Capex / GM steercos.
  • Enable aligned, insight-driven discussions that support integrated value for bp


Essential experience

Individuals should have experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Experience in planning, analyzing, or managing performance, including long-term planning, budgeting, forecasting, or tracking outcomes to support delivery of business goals.
  • Strong commercial and economic understanding, with experience developing business cases, evaluating investments, or supporting project delivery.
  • Experience in managing senior partners and delivering value in complex matrix environments
  • Broad understanding of how different processes and functions connect to deliver business outcomes and enable effective decision-making
  • Experience in capital-intensive or operational businesses, i.e. refinery experience preferred but not essential

How much do we pay (Base)? The anticipated base salary for this position is approximately between $145,000 and $180,000 USD annually, *Note that the pay range listed for this position is a genuinely expected and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.

This position offers paid vacation depending on your years of relevant industry experience and will range from 120 - 240 hours of vacation per year for full times employees (60 - 240 hours of vacation per year for part time employees). You will also be eligible for 9 paid holidays per year and 2 personal choice holidays.
