This position supports a customer-dedicated SME program with the objective of enabling site teams to use a consistent troubleshooting methodology and to independently assess system performance issues. Supported personnel should be capable of formulating clear, data-supported problem statements and progressing toward resolution using established processes and tools.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and oversee training of site representatives on structured problem assessment, data gathering, and effective troubleshooting practices.
- Mentor site personnel to ensure a consistent problem-solving approach using internal methodology.
- Drive reduction of system stops/errors and support system optimization, reliability improvements, and operational efficiency at assigned sites.
- Partner with Internal SMEs and site personnel to ensure consistent program outcomes (training effectiveness, stop/error reduction, optimization targets).
- Provide initial focus on sensor calibration best practices, including identifying when recalibration or deeper review is needed for underperforming vehicles related to automation kit performance.
- Coach site teams on what to look for during issue assessment and how to build clear, data-supported problem statements.
- Perform self-directed work based on site performance and operational priorities; establish daily/weekly objectives and track progress.
- Provide ideas, examples, and guidance to address difficult or recurring problems.
- Make software and hardware adjustments as needed to improve performance and reduce recurrence of issues.
- Monitor and interpret system performance metrics; identify trends, anomalies, and improvement opportunities.
- Deliver training and serve as a technical interface for operational stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other engineers on projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Travel to additional sites as required based on program needs.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No direct people-management responsibilities. However, training and mentoring of site resources is critical to the success of this role and the customer-dedicated SME program.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Communication:
- Ability to communicate highly technical information to varied audiences and tailor messaging for less technical stakeholders.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and work instructions/technical notes.
- Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from managers, engineers, and site stakeholders.
Technical/Math:
- Ability to apply probability/statistics and fundamentals of geometry/trigonometry to practical situations.
- Comfort with fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Familiarity with controls theory concepts (e.g., PID loops) and mathematical models of system control.
Reasoning/Problem Solving:
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical/diagram form and work across abstract and concrete variables.
