The Senior Facilities Project Manager plays a critical role in supporting the planning, design, construction, and delivery of facility projects that advance the institution's mission. The Facilities Management department is responsible for the stewardship of campus facilities, infrastructure, and capital improvement initiatives that support patient care, research, education, and administrative operations.
Within Facilities Management, the Senior Facilities Project Manager provides project management expertise across capital facility projects, ensuring successful integration of project scope, budget, schedule, quality, and stakeholder requirements. The Senior Facilities Project Manager collaborates with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies to support project success. The Senior Facilities Project Manager also ensures compliance with institutional standards, industry best practices, and applicable regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate has experience managing healthcare design and pre-construction projects, including clinical renovations, laboratory improvements, facility repairs, and capital equipment replacement initiatives. They possess strong skills in project planning, design coordination, budget and schedule management, consultant oversight, and stakeholder engagement, with the ability to successfully deliver multiple small to mid-sized projects in active healthcare and research environments. The successful candidate understands infection control, patient safety, and continuity of operations requirements, communicates effectively with clinical users and project teams, proactively manages project risks and issues, and ensures projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and organizational requirements.

Responsibilities
Project Management
Own design phase delivery for assigned projects, from the design contract baseline through document issuance.
Validate scope, services, fee, budget, and schedule before the design contract is set, and hold that baseline through document issuance.
Manage scope, budget, schedule, and contract compliance so the design package is completed on schedule, within the approved budget, and to the required quality standard.
Review design decisions and documents before issuance for fit with the approved program, codes, life safety, campus standards, and budget.
Account for infection control, patient safety, and continuity of operations in active clinical and research settings when reviewing design decisions.
Resolve design schedule and resource conflicts across assigned projects when a change on one project affects another.
Lead the project team, including customers, clinical and/or research stakeholders, consultants, Facilities Planning Design and Construction, and Facilities Management groups, through clear written and verbal communication.
Keep meeting minutes and a decision log so information moves both ways between the project team and stakeholders.
Resolve team conflicts directly so the work keeps moving.
Manage contractual compliance and relationships for assigned projects.
Define and implement contractual and financial strategies.
Coordinate approvals with the Board of Regents, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, the Facilities Steering Committee, and associated state agencies.
Support ROCIP on selected projects.
Identify client, technical, cost, and schedule risks during design and drive them to resolution before they become changes or claims.
Keep project documentation, financial and activity reports, and the system of record current for team, budget, design schedule, consultants, and change actions.
Store the project record so it supports decisions, issue resolution, and handover at document issuance.

EDUCATION- Required: Bachelor's Degree Construction Management, Construction Science or other construction related Architectural Engineering field or related discipline.
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Science or other construction related Architectural Engineering field or related discipline.
WORK EXPERIENCE- Preferred: 10-15 years Project management/construction management experience. Design and construction experience with major academic healthcare and/or research facilities.
- Required: Five years Project management/construction experience.
- May substitute Bachelor's degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
