Position Summary

The Senior Fabric OneLake Data Modeler is responsible for designing, governing, and evolving the enterprise analytical data model within Microsoft Fabric OneLake. This role support the owners of business data structures, master data, metrics, hierarchies, dimensions, relationships, and analytical data products used across reporting, self-service analytics, AI solutions, Fabric Data Agents, and governed IT applications.

The position ensures that all enterprise data assets adhere to Medallion Architecture principles while aligning with the foundational concepts of the Corporate Information Factory (CIF). The role is accountable for establishing a scalable, governed, reusable enterprise information model that provides a single version of the truth across the organization.

The Senior Fabric OneLake Data Modeler partners closely with business stakeholders, architects, integration engineers, data engineers, analytics teams, and governance teams to ensure data consistency, reusability, transparency, and trust.

Key Responsibilities

Design and maintain enterprise conceptual, logical, and physical data models.

Define enterprise facts, dimensions, hierarchies, metrics, relationships, and business entities.

Facilitate data modeling workshops and requirement discovery sessions.

Establish enterprise standards for data modeling, naming conventions, grain definition, and metadata management.

Create reusable canonical business models across all domains.

Review and approve data designs prior to development.

Partner with architects and engineering teams to ensure alignment with enterprise standards.

Coach Data Engineers and Junior Engineers on modeling best practices.

Support self-service analytics, AI solutions, semantic models, and governed reporting platforms.

Corporate Information Factory and Medallion Architecture Ownership

The role ensures alignment between Corporate Information Factory principles and Fabric Medallion Architecture.

Bronze Layer:
• Raw source-aligned data
• CDC and ingestion structures
• API landing zones

Silver Layer (Single Version of the Truth):
• Enterprise fact tables
• Conformed dimensions

The Silver Layer serves as the authoritative enterprise source of truth.

• Performance-optimized analytical structures

No additional business logic, KPI calculations, or filtering rules may be introduced within Gold beyond what has been approved and governed within Silver.
