Position DescriptionJob PurposeThis position develops, manages, and/or executes all estimating activities for one or more large, complex, and demanding projects. Develops advanced estimating concepts to help team determine the cost of a project. Provides management, guidance, and directions, to all estimate team staff. This position will also work closely with professionals in other areas of the constructions process, including clients, architects, and vendors to craft a detailed proposal outlining the costs of a specific construction project.
RESPONSIBILITIES/EXPECTATIONS - Provide training and supervise the work of Estimators, Project Engineers or Junior Estimators
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
- Consults with clients, vendors, subcontractors, chief estimator, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Provide complete conceptual and final estimating input on complex projects.
- Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to particular bid/project assigned.
- Organizes and manages a centralized cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating to ensure historical data is utilized.
- Provide technical support to personnel preparing discipline estimates for assigned bids.
- Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back-up estimate figures.
- Track awarded contracts as assigned - may include estimating extra work items, change orders, credits; procuring material, etc.
- Ability to meet an accelerated budget.
- Ability to take ownership for multiple/diverse project responsibilities simultaneously.
- Provides improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.
- Analyzes completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies.
- RFI Management
- Contact subcontractors for key trades that would make a direct impact on the project.

Position RequirementsQualifications- 10-15 years of industry-related experience in estimating
- Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of CSI divisions for subcontractor packages
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of building envelope, foundations, roofing systems, concrete slab moisture levels, mechanical systems, ADA standards, etc.
- Proficiency in the use of technology software (e.g., Microsoft, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, OST, Destiny, etc.)
- OSHA 30 Certification
- Mastery of safety in order to help maintain Tellepsen's exemplary safety record
- Strong knowledge and understanding of construction methods/techniques
