Full Job Description
Position Summary:
The Structured Cabling Senior Estimator plays a key role in supporting preconstruction efforts by preparing accurate and timely cost estimates, scopes of work, and bid proposals. This position is critical to winning work in the K-12 education, healthcare, and public-sector markets. The Estimator must be detail-oriented, technically proficient, and able to interpret complex project documentation, ensuring all estimates reflect current standards, client expectations, and profitability goals. As the Senior Estimator, you will mentor and engage with the team as a lead.

Key Responsibilities:
Interpret bid documents, drawings, and specifications related to structured cabling, camera systems, wireless, paging, and access control in educational and healthcare settings.
Develop complete and compliant bid packages, including labor and material takeoffs, using tools like Accubid (preferred), Bluebeam, and Excel.
Conduct presales site surveys to determine required materials and identify job constraints.
Prepare clear and detailed scopes of work, bills of materials (BOM), budgets, and cost estimates.
Coordinate with sales, engineering, and project management teams to align proposals with strategic pricing and project goals.
Create and maintain estimating templates and assemblies for recurring system types.
Evaluate subcontractor/vendor quotes to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, public sector procurement requirements, and company quality standards.
Participate in job walks, pre-bid meetings, and turnover meetings to align estimating intent with project delivery.
Maintain CRM records, respond to RFIs/RFPs, and track estimate progress across multiple concurrent bids.

Qualifications:
Experience with design-build structured cabling projects is required. Candidates must be able to develop structured cabling solutions tailored to client needs, from initial concept through final design, in line with NICP's design-build delivery model.
Minimum 3 years of estimating experience in structured cabling, low voltage, or security systems.
Hands-on knowledge of CAT6/CAT6A, coax, fiber optics, CCTV, access control, wireless APs, and paging/intercom systems.
Strong understanding of Division 27/28 scopes, public works, and prevailing wage requirements.
Experience with K-12 school districts, hospitals, or other institutional clients is preferred.
RCDD certification is a plus.
Proficiency in Accubid, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, and project documentation software.
Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
Primarily office-based with up to 50% travel to project sites for surveys or walkthroughs.
Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, climb, or lift (up to 50 lbs) as needed for field assessments.
Visual acuity to read detailed technical drawings and specifications.

Available to work flexible hours, including occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends as project demands require.
Must comply with company policies, safety standards, and Code of Conduct.
Participate in continuous improvement processes, team meetings, and one-on-one check-ins.

Salary Range: $95,000 - $120,000.00
