  • Conduct surveys and review subcontractor estimates
  • Write and submit Requests for Information (RFIs)
  • Maintain communication with team members and stakeholders
  • Ensure all involved understand project scope and updates
  • Research historical project data for application on current projects
  • Support selection of building systems and software
  • Assist in project scheduling
  • Mentor and manage estimating team, including performance reviews

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead estimating efforts on large and complex projects


  • Provide conceptual, detailed, self-perform work estimates, and cost models


  • Organize, research, and strategically plan for estimate preparation, pricing, scheduling, and submission


  • Determine subcontractors for bidding process and final estimate pricing


  • Assign work to estimating team and ensure accurate information is incorporated


  • Conduct quantity surveys, cost estimates, and review subcontractor proposals


  • Research tax laws, collective bargaining agreements, and permits


  • Write and submit Requests for Information


  • Maintain regular communication with team members, owners, architects, and engineers


  • Ensure understanding of project scope and updates among team members and subcontractors


  • Research and analyze historical project data for current applications


  • Assist in selecting building systems and software programs


  • Assist in project scheduling


  • Lead, train, mentor, and manage estimators, including performance evaluations


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or similar or equivalent experience


  • Minimum nine years construction industry experience


  • Six years construction estimating experience


  • LEED AP, DBIA professional, preferred


  • Organized and detailed with proven ability to fulfill all responsibilities for multiple, complex projects


  • Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices


  • Proven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills


  • Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills


  • Applicable mathematical skills


  • Proficient with building/estimating techniques and software: ISqFt, ICE/Bid2Win, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), Bluebeam/PDF, Google Earth


  • Current driver's license

The base pay range for this role is $128,200 - $192,300 (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
