Job Description

onsemi is seeking an Equipment Maintenance Technician - Thin Films. As an Equipment Maintenance Technician at onsemi's 200mm manufacturing facility in Gresham, Oregon, you will work in a dynamic team environment and perform preventive, corrective, and diagnostic maintenance proficiently on a variety of innovative semiconductor manufacturing tools. Each day, you will be challenged by working on a diverse set of tools with a world-class team.

Shift A- Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, every other Wednesday, 7 AM- 7:06 PM

Candidates must demonstrate a high level of hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting expertise on one or more of the following Thin Films platforms, with broad working knowledge across the area:
  • Novellus Concept Two platforms, including SPEED, SEQ, and ALTUS
  • Applied Materials platforms, including Endura, Centura, and Producer
  • Major tool subsystems such as vacuum, gas delivery, RF/plasma, temperature control, robotics, process chambers, pumps, abatement interfaces, controls, and interlocks


Responsibilities

  • Independently diagnose and resolve extremely complex equipment and process-related failures using advanced diagnostic methods, schematics, system data, and sound troubleshooting discipline.
  • Lead difficult tool recoveries and root-cause investigations, document findings clearly, and drive corrective actions through verified closure.
  • Perform and improve preventive and corrective maintenance, calibrations, repairs, and scheduled tool qualifications with consistently high first-time-right quality.
  • Interpret equipment, process, SPC, and performance data to identify abnormal conditions, recurring failure modes, and reliability improvement opportunities.
  • Develop, improve, and standardize PM specifications, troubleshooting guides, best-known methods, checklists, and maintenance systems.
  • Partner with equipment engineering, process engineering, manufacturing, vendors, and management to develop and execute continuous-improvement plans.
  • Train and mentor technicians on all aspects of equipment maintenance, advanced diagnostics, safe work practices, documentation, and technical decision-making.
  • Provide technical leadership across shifts by setting expectations for professional pass downs, data quality, work execution, and follow-through.
  • Coordinate vendor support and provide clear technical direction during escalations, repairs, upgrades, installations, and qualifications.
  • Maintain accurate equipment history, repair data, parts usage, and technical documentation in required factory systems.


Qualifications

  • Associate or technical degree, military technician training, or equivalent maintenance experience.
  • 10-15+ years of semiconductor equipment technician experience, with demonstrated specialist-level performance on complex manufacturing equipment.
  • Demonstrated expert troubleshooting and problem-solving capability on Thin Films equipment, including the ability to connect equipment behavior with process performance.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing equipment needs, and provide clear technical leadership during high-impact events.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including complete repair documentation, technical procedures, pass downs, and cross-functional updates.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated expert-level experience on multiple listed Novellus and Applied Materials platforms.
  • Formal OEM or vendor training on relevant Thin Films equipment.
  • Experience leading chronic-failure elimination, equipment improvement projects, installations, upgrades, or major qualifications.
  • Proficiency with factory systems and data tools used for equipment tracking, parts management, SPC, tool performance analysis, and documentation.
  • Proven experience training and mentoring technicians across skill levels and shifts.
