Responsibilities

We are looking for a Senior Environmental Engineer to join our New York City team. In this role, you will provide technical leadership and strategic guidance on environmental compliance and engineering solutions for major infrastructure projects, including those for the City of New York. This position blends technical expertise with project leadership and client engagement responsibilities.

You will lead stormwater management programs, advance coastal resiliency design practices, review environmental site assessments, and ensure compliance with city, state, and federal regulations. Additionally, you will mentor junior staff, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and serve as a trusted advisor to clients and regulatory agencies. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor junior staff on environmental review processes such as CEQR, SEQRA, and NEPA, and provide guidance on technical documentation.

  • Review and approve Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments and related documentation to ensure thorough and accurate evaluations.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate environmental considerations into project design and delivery.
  • Serve as a client liaison for environmental engineering aspects of projects, ensuring timely, accurate, and high-quality deliverables.
  • Apply sustainable design guidelines and accredited frameworks such as the Envision Sustainable Infrastructure Framework and WEDG to infrastructure projects to achieve sustainability objectives.
  • Develop and implement Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) in compliance with NYCDEP and NYSDEC regulations,and oversee inspections and reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Design innovative green infrastructure and post-construction stormwater practices that support sustainability and resiliency goals.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Engineering or a related field; Masters degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York State required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in environmental engineering, with expertise in stormwater management and regulatory compliance.
  • ArcGIS is a Plus
  • Strong understanding of NYCDEP and NYSDEC stormwater regulations, SWPPP development, and inspection protocols.
  • Experience with Phase I/II ESA reviews and environmental permitting.
  • ENV SP and WEDG credentials preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D is a preferred.

The pay range for this New York position is $115,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. In addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided in accordance with NY Senate Bill S1326.
