Position Summary
The Senior Enterprise Architect is responsible for leading the design, documentation, modernization, and governance of complex IT systems across multiple environments. This role partners with business, security, and technology stakeholders to ensure that enterprise systems are scalable, secure, compliant, and aligned with organizational strategy. The architect serves as a technical advisor, providing strategic recommendations, modernization pathways, and end-to-end solution designs that support mission and enterprise needs.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture and System Design
  • Review, document, and maintain system architectures, including components, interactions, interfaces, and data flows across multiple environments.
  • Provide recommendations for improving, modernizing, or re-architecting complex IT systems with clearly defined critical paths and execution steps.
  • Develop enterprise-level solutions for metadata tagging, security controls, data services, and platform modernization.

Technology Evaluation and Modernization
  • Assess and recommend emerging technologies, hardware, software, and platforms for modernization initiatives.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to transition legacy systems to modern data platforms (e.g., data lakes, data warehouses).
  • Evaluate opportunities to integrate Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning into enterprise processes and systems.

Cybersecurity and Compliance
  • Ensure that all architecture designs meet cybersecurity standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational compliance mandates.
  • Provide recommendations to enhance database and system compliance with cybersecurity guidelines.
  • Support implementation of enterprise Zero Trust (ZT) architecture and configuration requirements.
  • Coordinate activities to ensure adherence to internal and external policies, processes, and regulations.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Requirements Management
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and service providers to understand business needs and translate them into effective technical solutions.
  • Lead communications with customers to document functional and technical requirements.
  • Translate user stories and mission needs into system specifications that support acquisition, implementation, and verification.

Strategic Planning and Governance
  • Develop and maintain 3-5-year technology roadmaps for applications and environments that align directly with organizational strategic goals.
  • Develop prioritization frameworks for application and capability development that consider mission impact, risk, resource constraints, and compliance obligations.
  • Provide written justification for prioritization and decision-making processes.
  • Research and evaluate technology solutions that meet current and future customer needs.

Cost Analysis and Planning
  • Develop Courses of Action (COAs) for proposed solutions, including cost-benefit analyses, Bills of Material (BOM), and Rough Orders of Magnitude (ROM).
  • Collaborate across service providers to evaluate new technologies and recommend viable courses of action.

Testing and Validation
  • Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) within government or DoD environments, including development of test plans, test cases, validation procedures, and results documentation.
  • Ensure solution verification aligns with federal verification & validation (V&V) and cybersecurity assessment requirements.

Qualifications:
  • TS/SCI with CI Poly (or ability to obtain a polygraph)
  • Experience: Minimum 12 years of experience
  • Education: Master's degree in a related field
