About this Role

The Senior Engineering Advisor is a strategic technical leader within QISG, responsible for guiding engineering excellence across high voltage transmission and substation projects. This role provides high-level technical oversight, establishes engineering standards, and partners with operational leadership to drive quality, innovation, and consistency throughout the project lifecycle.

 

Serving as a senior subject matter expert, this position supports conceptual through detailed design phases, strengthens workforce development, and advances QISG’s technical reputation within the industry.

What You'll Do
  • Strategically collaborate with engineering and operational leadership to define technical goals, priorities, and long-term engineering initiatives.
  • Provide senior-level oversight of engineering work to ensure technical quality, consistency, and compliance with company and customer standards.
  • Act as technical lead during conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases of transmission and substation projects, including customer and jobsite visits as required.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in high voltage transmission and substation engineering, and related design functions.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve engineering controls, technical governance processes, and quality assurance standards.
  • Establish and oversee technical training strategies, mentoring programs, and professional development pathways for engineering staff.
  • Support business development efforts through participation in client meetings, technical proposal development, scope definition, and strategic project planning.
  • Collaborate with Quanta Engineering and Construction OpU’s to drive integrated project execution and expand service offerings.
  • Drive innovation and efficiency in engineering methodologies, tools, and technologies to enhance project delivery and performance.
  • Represent QISG in industry forums, conferences, and professional associations to enhance the company’s technical reputation and thought leadership.
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, integrity, and technical excellence consistent with QISG’s core values.
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in engineering practices, incorporating relevant innovations into company standards and project execution.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in the electric utility industry performing engineering and/or management of high voltage transmission and substation projects.
  • Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) or Graduate degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
  • PE license required.
  • Extensive technical expertise in structural, civil, or electrical engineering disciplines related to electric utility infrastructure.
  • Expert knowledge of electric utility engineering and construction standards.
  • Strong understanding of engineering studies, modeling tools, and analytical software used in transmission and/or substation design.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex technical and business issues, mitigate risk, and develop strategic solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting external customers.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, and external partners.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards.
