Full Job Description
EthosEnergy is seeking a Senior Engineer to support the Gas Turbine Product Line which includes gas turbine rotors and compressor diaphragms. This role oversees the execution of customer orders from intake through final reporting, ensuring quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Additionally, the Senior Engineer is expected to be heavily involved in assessing RLE (Rotor Lifetime Extensions) of rotors, assess overall condition of rotors and compressor diaphragms, and provide technical guidance for the younger, less experienced engineers.

Qualified candidates should have 5-8 years of experience in a manufacturing or repair shop environment, with preference for 8+ years in turbomachinery repairs and/or metallurgical experience. Strong customer service, engineering analysis skills, and proficiency with ERP systems are required along with metallurgical experience and engineering analysis skills to evaluate overall component condition. This position will require extra hours to support production schedules.

Job Responsibilities

  • Create, issue, and maintain shop work instructions (route tags).
  • Draft, review, and interpret engineering blueprints.
  • Apply strong technical expertise to troubleshoot project issues.
  • Support engineering calculations, material specifications, special processes, repairs, and lessons learned.
  • Review job releases and supporting documents to define project scope and requirements.
  • Review job history and prepare inspection packages for incoming equipment.
  • Verify that drawings, specifications, and work instructions meet standards before issuing shop packages.
  • Maintain detailed cost workbooks for incoming jobs and change orders, including labor, materials, and subcontracted services.
  • Create and implement inspection forms as needed.
  • Review inspection results for compliance with EthosEnergy (EE) and OEM standards and specifications.
  • Develop repair scopes from inspection findings, including labor, material, and subcontracting cost estimates.
  • Prepare technical reports summarizing component assessments, repair recommendations, and related risks.
  • Support customer discussions by providing overall assessments of their gas turbine equipment.
  • Lead cross-functional meetings to review project scope and document updates, then implement changes in the ERP system and cost workbooks.
  • Initiate procurement of necessary parts, materials, and vendor services.
  • Prepare RFQ estimates for commercial teams and review them with key stakeholders.
  • Support production schedules and deadlines, working extended hours when required.
  • Identify process improvements and continually expand knowledge of rotating equipment and repair methods.
  • Create and maintain project BOMs.
  • Perform rotor RLE analyses and recommend engineering actions and service-life extensions.
  • Analyze rotor condition, including disposition of incoming findings and runout conditions.
  • Disposition NCRs as required.
  • Mentor and support less-experienced engineers as needed.
  • Independently develop repair processes for all heavy-duty frame rotors and stationary components.
  • Identify various heavy-duty gas turbine configurations and designs.

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft technology suite.
  • Knowledge of shop workflows and ERP planning systems used to create production management documentation.
  • Knowledge of general manufacturing processes, including machining, welding, and fabrication.
  • Expertise in metallurgical analysis and material selection.
  • Ability to evaluate rotor condition through engineering analysis.

Experience

  • 8+ years of direct experience in turbomachinery repairs is preferred.
  • 5-8 years minimum in a manufacturing or repair shop environment.
  • Customer relations and engineering analysis experience are required.
  • Rotor Lifetime Extension experience is required

Education Requirements

  • Highschool Diploma or equivalent required.
  • BS in engineering is preferred, will consider years of experience, combined with education for this position.
  • Certifications in CAD are a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to walk around large equipment as required to diagnose problems.
  • Need to be able to lift 30 lbs. regularly.
