Senior Engineer, Embedded Software Testing and Qualification
Are you passionate about designing and scaling automated test frameworks for embedded systems that bridge hardware and software?
Do you thrive in debugging complex hardware-software issues and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable, high-quality product delivery?
We are seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with 5 to 8 years of professional experience in embedded systems and software validation. In this role, you will take ownership of our automated test strategy, designing and scaling advanced test frameworks that bridge hardware and software. You will act as a technical leader, mentoring junior engineers and collaborating closely with firmware developers, electrical engineers, and product managers to ensure the reliability of our products.
As a Senior Engineer, Embedded Software Testing and Qualification, you will be responsible for:
- Architect Test Frameworks: Designing, architecture, and scaling automated test frameworks from scratch for hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) environments and system integration.
- Develop Automation Code: Writing robust, production-grade automation scripts and testing suites using Python, or modern C#.
- Lead Hardware/Software Debugging: Isolating, diagnosing, and root-cause complex low-level hardware defects, race conditions, and timing anomalies using lab equipment.
- Optimize CI/CD Pipelines: Building, maintaining, and optimizing continuous integration pipelines (e.g. Azure Pipelines, Jenkins, GitLab CI) to orchestrate daily regression testing on hardware.
- Drive Testability: Participating in software code reviews and architectural discussions to advocate for testability, test hooks, and design-for-test (DFT) principles.
- Mentor Team Members: Providing technical guidance, code reviews, and mentorship to junior engineers on the team.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Experience: Have 4+ years of experience as an SDET or Test Automation Engineer specifically within embedded systems or application testing
- Programming: Have proficiency C# .NET and familiarity with Python.
- Computer Vision: Have experience testing and employing CV technologies is desirable
- Education: Have Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM discipline.
Preferred
- Have experience with automated test equipment (ATE) design or custom hardware test fixture development.
- Have knowledge of safety-critical development standards (e.g., ISO 26262, IEC 62304, DO-178C).
- Have experience with containerization tools like Docker for standardized test environments.
- Leverage AI/ML tools to accelerate test development, including automated test generation.
