Full Job Description
What you will be doing

As a Senior Electronics Technician at Neros, you will be a hands-on, versatile contributor at the center of our hardware development process. You will support the full range of bench work that keeps a fast-moving electronics team executing, from precision PCBA assembly and complex rework to test execution, lab operations, and hardware bring-up support. This is a high-ownership role on a small team where the breadth of your contribution matters as much as the depth of your technical skills. If you take pride in exceptional bench work, operate well with autonomy, and want to be close to hardware that gets built and deployed in the field, this is the role.

Responsibilities
  • Perform PCBA assembly, rework, and repair across a range of complexity including fine-pitch SMT components and advanced package types, supporting prototype builds and hardware iterations throughout the development cycle
  • Execute complex rework tasks with a high degree of precision and repeatability, including BGA removal, replacement, and inspection
  • Assemble and rework custom cable and wire harness assemblies to engineering drawings and specifications
  • Execute hardware test plans, collect and record results, and communicate findings clearly to the engineering team
  • Support hardware bring-up and debug alongside engineers, performing measurements, probing signals, and assisting with fault isolation
  • Own day-to-day lab operations including equipment maintenance, tooling calibration, ESD compliance, consumable inventory, and general organization
  • Assist with component kitting, parts ordering, and managing lab inventory to keep builds moving without delays

You should have the following
  • 5+ years of hands-on electronics technician experience in a production, prototype, or R&D environment
  • Demonstrable, advanced soldering proficiency including fine-pitch SMT components and complex through-hole work, with the precision and consistency expected of a senior-level technician
  • Proven BGA rework experience, including removal, reballing, and placement using hot air or dedicated BGA rework equipment
  • Experience assembling and reworking cable and wire harness assemblies to engineering specifications
  • Proficiency with standard bench test equipment including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, bench power supplies, and function generators
  • Ability to read and work from schematics, assembly drawings, and work instructions with a high degree of accuracy
  • Strong understanding of ESD handling procedures and general lab safety practices
  • Comfortable operating independently across a wide range of tasks in a fast-paced, small team environment
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a habit of thorough, accurate documentation

Nice to have
  • IPC certifications (IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, or equivalent)
  • Experience working in a startup, small team, or similarly fast-paced hardware environment where versatility and self-direction were required
  • Familiarity with UAV, defense, or similarly demanding hardware applications
  • Experience operating automated or semi-automated assembly and inspection equipment (AOI, reflow ovens, X-ray inspection)
  • Exposure to basic lab software tools for data logging, test automation, or documentation
  • Associate's degree or technical certification in Electronics Technology or a related field

US Salary Range

$100,000 - $130,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are considered part of Neros' total compensation package.
