This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations.

Role Summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior Electrical Utility & Infrastructure Engineer to serve as the primary technical interface between Blue Origin and external electrical utility providers across all company sites. This individual will ensure the reliable, stable, and scalable delivery of electrical power to support Blue Origin's growing operations - from launch facilities to manufacturing and test sites. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in utility power systems, a proactive mindset for infrastructure planning, and a continuous improvement mentality to drive reliability and redundancy across our internal electrical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities

Utility Provider Management

• Serve as the primary technical liaison between Blue Origin and electrical utility providers across all sites and geographies
• Manage service agreements, tariff structures, interconnection agreements, and utility coordination requests
• Monitor utility performance and hold providers accountable to contracted service levels and reliability standards
• Resolve power delivery issues in coordination with utility companies and internal stakeholders

Capacity Planning & Site Development

• Partner with Facilities, Real Estate, and Operations teams to forecast short- and long-term electrical power demands at new and existing Blue Origin sites
• Lead utility feasibility studies and service availability assessments during site selection and development phases
• Develop load growth projections and coordinate infrastructure upgrade plans with utility providers to ensure timely capacity delivery
• Support capital project planning with utility cost and timeline inputs

Internal Electrical Infrastructure & Reliability

• Conduct continuous improvement analysis of Blue Origin's internal electrical distribution systems to identify gaps in reliability, redundancy, and performance
• Develop and maintain standards for electrical infrastructure design, including backup power, redundancy architecture, and failover systems
• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) investigations for power-related incidents and drive corrective actions to closure
• Collaborate with engineering, facilities, and operations teams to implement infrastructure upgrades and improvements
• Support development and maintenance of single-line diagrams, utility records, and infrastructure documentation

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure electrical utility infrastructure and internal systems comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulations (NEC, NFPA, IEEE, NERC, local utility tariffs, etc.)
• Identify and assess electrical infrastructure risks and develop mitigation strategies to protect critical operations
• Support emergency response planning related to utility outages and power disruptions

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field
• 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on utility power systems, electrical distribution, or facilities infrastructure
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering
• Demonstrated experience interfacing with electrical utility providers on technical and contractual matters
• Proficiency with medium and high voltage electrical distribution systems
• Strong understanding of power system analysis, load flow studies, and reliability concepts
• Experience with backup power systems including generators, UPS, and automatic transfer switches (ATS)
• Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, NERC)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting multi-site or campus-scale electrical infrastructure
• Experience with utility rate analysis, demand management, or energy procurement
• Familiarity with SCADA systems, power monitoring platforms, or Building Management Systems (BMS)
• Experience in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or other critical infrastructure environments
• Working knowledge of renewable energy integration and microgrid systems

Base Pay Range for:
WA applicants is $145,188.00 - $203,263.20
