Description

Primary Responsibilities
  • Design and prototype custom PCBs, including schematic capture, component selection, assembly and bench testing
  • Develop embedded hardware and firmware for sensor-based data acquisition, and control systems, including bare-metal microcontroller applications and supporting computer software
  • Select, integrate, and configure instrumentation for data acquisition in existing installations and newly developed systems
  • Design and implement custom sensing solutions using purpose-built components or commercial off-the-shelf products
  • Apply signal conditioning and DSP techniques, including sampling, amplification, filtering, and analysis to a variety of sensor data.
  • Design, prototype, and implement single- and multi-axis motion control systems and adapt existing equipment for new applications
  • Design electrical solutions ranging from low-voltage DC power distribution to high-voltage AC for material characterization
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, modify, and repair electronic hardware, including obsolete and legacy systems
  • Build and test prototypes through controlled lab evaluation, then adapt and validate them for field deployment
  • Document technical progress, development activities, design decisions and test results in regular customer reports
  • Prepare, review, and contribute to technical proposals, reports, and other project deliverables


Requirements

Preferred Qualifications
  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or closely related technical field
  • 2+ years of professional embedded development experience
  • Strong programming experience in C/C++ and Python
  • Experience with PCB design tools such as Altium or KiCad
  • Familiarity with hardware communication interfaces including SPI, IC, RS-232, and CAN
  • Comfortable with engineering lab tools including soldering equipment, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes
  • Able to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • Familiarity with analog, RF, or microwave frequency circuit design
  • Previous experience with NDE inspection methods including eddy current, ultrasound, or terahertz inspection is a plus
