Position Summary

The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for delivering electrical engineering work across feasibility studies, process design packages, and detailed engineering activities. The role operates within a project task force team and may act as a technical or project lead for electrical scope execution.

This position applies advanced electrical engineering knowledge to develop power system designs, perform system studies, and support equipment specification and procurement while ensuring compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and safety objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Functional Responsibilities
  • Perform electrical engineering activities across:
    • Feasibility studies
    • Process design packages
    • Detailed engineering phases
  • Prepare electrical engineering deliverables, including:
    • Load summaries
    • Single-line diagrams
    • Protection diagrams
  • Perform electrical studies, including:
    • Load flow analysis
    • Short circuit analysis
    • Transient motor starting studies
    • Protection relay coordination and settings
  • Utilize power system analysis tools such as ETAP and SKM
  • Prepare electrical equipment specifications, datasheets, and work packages
  • Conduct technical bid evaluations and review vendor drawings
  • Develop electrical designs, including:
    • Substation layouts
    • Schematics
    • Wiring diagrams
  • Support selection and specification of equipment such as:
    • Switchgear
    • Transformers
    • Motors and generators
    • Motor Control Centers (MCCs)


Leadership / Management Responsibilities
  • Act as electrical discipline lead or project lead on assigned tasks
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance to junior engineers
  • Coordinate work across multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Support planning, scheduling, and execution of electrical scope
  • Interface with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders

Compliance / Operational Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, including:
  • NEC
  • IEC
  • ANSI
  • IEEE
  • API
  • NEMA
  • Maintain quality and accuracy of engineering deliverables
  • Ensure alignment with project scope, schedule, and budget
  • Support safe and reliable electrical system design


Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in:
  • Petrochemical
  • Refining
  • Renewables
  • Power generation projects
  • Strong knowledge of electrical system design and analysis
  • Experience with ETAP, SKM, or similar tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills


Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license
  • Experience acting as technical or project lead
  • Experience across full project lifecycle
