Your Opportunity

The Senior Electrical Engineer candidate will apply building electrical engineering principles, your superior client service skills, and project management best practices to deliver projects that meet project requirements, exceed client expectations, and meet project financial and other objectives. Working within our thriving Industrial buildings practice, you will contribute to project delivery standards and work processes, provide quality control, workload forecasting, financial performance accountability, and collaboration with other disciplines.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders, including healthcare providers, regulatory bodies, and internal teams
  • Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocations to ensure successful execution
  • Work collaboratively with project leaders, architects, design partners, peers, contractors, and other project stakeholders to define project objectives, deliverables, and success metrics, and develop innovative and practical solutions, and meet the project's conditions of satisfaction.
  • Lead cross-functional teams, facilitating communication and collaboration to achieve project milestones
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to address challenges proactively
  • Conduct regular project status meetings and prepare comprehensive reports for stakeholders
  • Mentor junior engineers and team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery processes.
  • Engage with external partners, including vendors and regulatory agencies, to ensure compliance and integration of project design.
  • Establish relationships with clients, agencies, providers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure design alignment with project objectives.
  • Lead the electrical design for various facility projects, including power distribution, lighting, backup power (generator/UPS systems), utility coordination, short circuit and coordination studies and coordination with other disciplines such as mechanical, technology and fire alarm.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to assess project variables and develop reliable design solutions independently.
  • Prepare detailed design documents, specifications, and reports.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Ensure compliance with design standards and regulations.
  • Participate in/lead project meetings and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Successfully manage projects and tasks of a scope, complexity, and revenue budget appropriate to experience.
  • Provide oversight for Electrical Engineering staff.
  • Actively contributes to the overall technical growth of the electrical team.
  • Meets technical, contractual, schedule, budgetary, and client service objectives for each project.
  • Apply strong electrical engineering skills, experience, and knowledge to the design and oversight of the design for building projects.
  • Manages and plans the production resources and workflow to produce the design documentation, drawings, and calculations required for electrical engineering projects.
  • Act as QC reviewer on projects.
  • Effectively delegates work to production support staff.
  • Nurtures existing client relationships and proactively pursues opportunities for new business.
  • Develop project proposals and participate in project pursuits.
  • Develop and deliver project-related client presentations.
  • Proactively pursues additional knowledge in related disciplines by attending available in-house and external training.
  • Maintain awareness of operational, technical, or regulatory changes within Electrical Engineering and AEC overall, disseminate such knowledge to staff and firm, and integrate it into existing processes and standards.
  • Maintain and update Electrical Engineering specifications, technical documentation, and standards in collaboration with other technical leaders in Stantec.
  • Develop and maintain industry relationships and visibility with current and prospective clients, sub-consultants, and partner firms in the local and regional A/E industry.
  • Develop presentation materials and present them to clients and at strategic industry events.
  • Represent the firm through published articles, public speaking engagements, and attendance at industry and community events, meetings, and conferences.

  • Experience successfully delivering electrical engineering designs to Architects and Owners in the in various sectors including non-healthcare and healthcare market
  • Understanding and implementation of the principles of project management.
  • Ability to manage clients, projects, fees, scope, and teams to achieve budget, schedule, and deliverable objectives while meeting key stakeholder critical success factors.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including California building codes, IMC, IPC, NFPA, IBC, and ASHRAE, as well as LEED and green building requirements.
  • A commanding knowledge of technical issues supporting delivered design services.
  • Deep technical understanding and working knowledge of electrical building systems
  • Fundamental understanding of NFPA 70, 72, 99 101,110 and/or FGI Guidelines as they specifically apply to hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, and medical office buildings.
  • Ability to apply logic, reasoning, and organizational skills to develop concepts and ideas and evolve them into project deliverables.
  • Familiarity with and ability to produce project-related documents and documentation standards required of a Project leader.
  • Outstanding consulting skills, with the ability to present a credible, engaging image in keeping with Stantec's high service standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and polished presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to integrate design elements with other disciplines to deliver a coordinated design.
  • Familiarity with and ability to apply sustainable design principles within projects while maintaining the process-driven requirements of the project.

  • Knowledge and experience to identify and manage items of risk that may occur on projects.

  • Functional knowledge of BIM software Revit

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field
  • Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, and/or demonstrated skills.
  • Professional Engineering license is strongly preferred.
  • Industrial Advanced Manufacturing & Manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with APD/Design Build project delivery is a plus.

Pay Range:
• Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas-$117,800.00 - $176,800.00 Annually
• Locations in WA, DC & Various CA, MA areas-$126,400.00 - $189,600.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
