Senior Electrical Engineer - Electrical Services Toromont Cat is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Electrical Services Engineering team. In this role, you will lead the design and development of control panels, switchgear, and advanced control systems, including PLC and HMI programming, while supporting the integration of renewable and hybrid energy solutions. This position plays a critical role in delivering safe, compliant, and high-quality electrical power systems for complex customer applications across Canada. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, YOU will experience: 3 Working within one of the safest organizations in the industry where your safety and well-being are our most important priority 3 Working for the best in class equipment dealer and with the premium Caterpillar brand 3 Opportunities to continuously Learn, Grow and Develop with our Toromont team through our internal Training teams that are geared for your success 3 Competitive total rewards including: wages, benefits, and premiums (as eligible) 3 An opportunity for flexible work schedules and opportunities across multiple locations across Eastern Canada In a typical day, YOU will: 3 Lead the electrical design of control panels and low- to medium-voltage switchgear for power generation and distribution systems. 3 Develop single-line diagrams, 3-phase schematics, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and cable termination schedules. 3 Design and integrate PLC- and HMI-based control systems, including system architecture, logic development, and commissioning support. 3 Program and configure PLC, HMI, synchronizing controllers, multifunction protection relays, and communication gateways. 3 Engineer renewable and hybrid energy management solutions, including generator, battery energy storage (BESS), renewable sources, and power management systems. 3 Engineer retrofit solutions for existing customer sites, including generators, battery energy storage (BESS), synchronizing multiple generators, PLC, HMI and power management systems. 3 Apply and interpret CSA requirements and the Canadian Electrical Code to ensure compliance and certification readiness. 3 Select and specify electrical components and materials to meet performance, reliability, and customer specifications. 3 Lead or support advanced electrical protection coordination studies. 3 Collaborate with project managers, manufacturing, commissioning, and service teams throughout the project lifecycle. 3 Provide technical mentorship and design leadership on high-complexity projects. Must-haves for this role: 3 Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. 3 Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation and registered or eligible for registration with: 3 Ordre des inge9nieurs du Que9bec (OIQ) or 3 Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). 3 Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering within power systems, controls, or industrial applications. 3 Strong hands-on experience with: 3 Control panel and switchgear design 3 PLC and HMI programming 3 Power system protection and control 3 Will be asked to travel to customer sites for commissioning (across Canada) and to Toromont switchgear plant for FAT (Pointe-Claire) 3 Solid knowledge of CSA standards, Canadian Electrical Code, and industry best practices. 3 Experience with generator controls, synchronizing and paralleling systems, and auxiliary power systems. 3 Exposure to renewable energy systems, energy storage, or hybrid microgrids is a strong asset. 3 Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills. 3 Ability to work independently on complex designs while collaborating within multidisciplinary teams.
