Job Summary
This position serves as a senior network systems engineer supporting Joint Live, Virtual, and Constructive training system development of the Defense Continuous Training Environment (DCTE) for the Joint Staff J-7 directorate. The Joint Staff J-7, in support of the Chairman, trains, educates, develops, designs and adapts the globally integrated, partnered, Joint Force to achieve overmatch in the continuum of conflict under conditions of accelerating change in the character of war. The J7 supports the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS) and the joint warfighter through joint force development (JFD) to advance the operational effectiveness of the current and future joint force. DCTE will be a global network that enables live virtual constructive training for the Navy, integrating various systems for realistic training scenarios. It supports the training of warfighters by simulating real-world threats and operational environments.
Essential Job Functions
3 Support communications and network planning for joint training events, including development of network requirements, connectivity plans, IP addressing schemes, bandwidth requirements, security requirements, and system integration plans. J-7's current modeling and simulation mission specifically includes communications systems support to J-6 planners.
3 Research, compile data, analyze and provide recommendations to stakeholders on future research and investment strategies that further Joint synthetic and/or live training.
3 Provide technical network engineering support to Joint Staff J-7 exercises, training events, wargames, experimentation, and demonstrations, including planning, installation, configuration, testing, execution, troubleshooting, and recovery.
3 Serve as a network engineering SME to J-7 leadership and mission partners; analyze requirements, evaluate emerging technologies, develop technical solutions, document architectures, and provide recommendations concerning network performance, cybersecurity, resiliency, interoperability, and .
3 Travel 10%.
Qualifications
3 Bachelor's / Master's degree in any of the following fields: physics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, math, statistics. Work experience may be considered as a substitute for the degree
3 Networking
3 Familiar with system engineering systems and processes
3 Understanding of DoW network architectures
