About The Role
We're looking for a Senior Network Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, designing resilient infrastructure, and taking ownership of networking from architecture through to automation.
This is a fully remote position for candidates based in the United States, with very rare but occasional travel to our offices in Denver, Colorado, or Magor, Wales (UK).
You'll join a small, highly skilled infrastructure team responsible for designing, deploying and supporting secure, high-performance networks that power globally distributed operations. Much of our work takes place in specialist environments where reliability, security and performance are critical. While some projects are confidential, you'll work with modern networking and security technologies on infrastructure that supports mission-critical services around the world.
This isn't a role where you'll spend your days resetting switch ports or chasing tickets. You'll have the freedom to influence designs, automate repetitive tasks, solve challenging networking problems and help shape the future of our infrastructure.
What You'll Do
Design & Deliver
• Lead the design and deployment of enterprise and data centre network infrastructure.
• Take technical ownership of networking projects from planning through implementation.
• Build secure, scalable and highly available network solutions across on-premises and cloud environments.
Engineer & Automate
• Configure and support Cisco and Fortinet networking and security platforms.
• Design and troubleshoot complex routing and switching environments using BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP and VXLAN.
• Develop Python automation to simplify operations, improve monitoring and reduce manual effort.
• Perform deep-dive troubleshooting using tools such as Wireshark and tcp dump.
Secure & Optimise
• Deploy and manage next-generation firewalls, VPNs and security platforms including FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, FortiClient EMS and Cisco Firepower Management Centre.
• Perform infrastructure hardening, vulnerability remediation and performance optimisation.
• Monitor network health and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
Collaborate
• Partner with cloud, systems and security engineers on global infrastructure initiatives.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to other engineers.
• Produce high-quality documentation and contribute to engineering standards and continuous improvement.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and occasional planned out-of-hours maintenance.
About You
You're an experienced network engineer who enjoys understanding how things work-not just keeping them running. You take pride in building reliable infrastructure, thrive on solving difficult technical problems and are always looking for better ways to automate and improve.
You'll likely have
• Strong enterprise networking and network security knowledge.
• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a distributed team.
• A proactive mindset and confidence taking ownership of technical decisions.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Flexibility to participate in a 1 in 4 on-call rotation.
• Permanent residence in the United States with unrestricted authorization to work without sponsorship.
Technical Experience
We're more interested in strong engineers than ticking every box, but you'll ideally bring experience with:
• Extensive experience in a senior network engineering role.
• CCNP, NSE5 or equivalent practical expertise (or higher).
• Cisco networking technologies, particularly Cisco Firepower and Cisco FMC.
• Fortinet technologies including FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer and FortiClient EMS.
• Azure networking.
• Python automation and scripting.
• Network analysis tools including Wireshark and tcpdump.
• Experience with Ciena or ASN platforms would be an advantage.
Why You'll Love Working Here
• Fully remote working with genuine flexibility and autonomy.
• Design and build infrastructure rather than simply maintaining it.
• Work on globally distributed, mission-critical networks that present unique technical challenges.
• Exposure to modern networking, cloud, security and automation technologies.
• Opportunities to influence architecture, introduce new ideas and improve the way we work.
• Ongoing investment in training, certifications and professional development.
• A collaborative engineering culture where technical excellence is valued and your work has a real impact.
