The IT Infrastructure Engineer is a highly skilled, technology-agnostic expert responsible for solving unusually complex business problems with innovative solutions across the entire infrastructure technology space. In this role, you will leverage your deep knowledge of IT infrastructure's impact on Roche's business to make critical technical decisions with considerable independence.

Job Responsibilities
Scope / (Content Leadership): Acts as a multi-disciplinary, technology-agnostic solution architect, designing, building, testing, and implementing integrated and resilient solutions across the entire infrastructure technology space. Demonstrates a broad view of how different solutions work together and adapt to business demands, taking accountability for ultimate decision-making in technical design and delivery with considerable independent judgment.
Accountability/Problem Solving: Utilizes outstanding problem-solving skills to develop innovative technological ideas and guide them into final products. Follows industry advancements closely to evaluate promising technologies via Proofs of Concept (PoCs) across technology domains. Leads the end-to-end design of infrastructure solutions, maintains related component standards, and provides internal escalation support to resolve major incidents proactively.
Stakeholder Management: Communicates complex information and potential solutions across the organization, including to the most senior levels of the business, in non-technical terms. Leads as a consultant to senior managers on technology strategy, policies, and objectives, while managing relationships with line-of-business stakeholders. Influences technology vendors and collaborates extensively with IT partners, such as Enterprise Architects and Solution Owners, to integrate feedback.
Impact/Strategy: Makes strategic decisions that significantly affect departmental goals and leads large to enterprise-level project teams to ensure successful implementation. Ensures that all solutions comply with Quality/Regulatory standards and adhere to the organizations Technical Architecture Framework (TAF). Plays a pivotal role in project planning by estimating engineering resources, dependencies, risks, and timelines.
Complexity / (Product Size): Drives success across multiple product lines within a domain by collaborating effectively with diverse, virtual teams from various locations and cultural backgrounds. Leads geo-distributed teams through influence and mentorship, providing specialized guidance to optimize performance and innovation.
Business / Technical ability: Applies advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts, acting as a recognized expert with proven depth and breadth across many areas. Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of multiple Roche business areas beyond IT infrastructure, understanding exactly how infrastructure impacts business processes.
Who you are:
Education / Experience
Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering or business field, or equivalent experience.
5-8 years of experience in supporting and implementing complex data networks
Demonstrated experience in technically leading challenging projects, small-to-medium technical teams, and medium-sized initiatives.
Demonstrated experience making strategic technical decisions and leading large to enterprise-level project teams.
Proven track record of architecting, designing, and implementing integrated, reliable infrastructure solutions across the entire technology space.
Experience in estimating complex engineering resources, dependencies, and timelines to deliver successful enterprise projects.
Technical / Business Skills
Advanced technical expertise in multiple areas (e.g., Platform, Compute and Storage, Network Management, ERP Technology Management, High Performance Computing, Datacenter Management, or Database Management).
In-depth knowledge of multiple business areas beyond IT infrastructure and a detailed understanding of how IT infrastructure impacts business processes.
Proven strong and wide experience applying best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service environment utilizing Scrum and Agile methodologies.
Additional Qualifications
Outstanding problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to integrate advanced technological concepts into viable final products.
Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, capable of translating complex technical issues for senior business leaders and influencing technology vendors.
Strong mentorship and leadership capabilities, with proven ability to guide and optimize geo-distributed teams.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Pennslvania is $121,600-$225,800. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
