Job Description

Reporting to the VP, Taxation & Treasury, the Senior Director will have day to day responsibility for the oversight and execution of all areas of US corporate income taxes including, tax accounting and ASC 740 reporting, federal and state tax compliance, audit defense, tax planning, M&A support and US international tax matters. They will also work directly with other internal functions and external advisors on a variety of projects including M&A transaction and integration work, tax credit planning, and other tax structuring opportunities. The role will also include oversight of external tax advisors and support the Company's tax governance, internal control, and SOX compliance framework.

While the position is advertised as a Senior Director level role, we welcome applications from candidates with Executive Director level experience, as we are open to considering the creation of a requisition for individuals with additional expertise if Jazz determines that there is sufficient business need

Essential Functions

  • Oversee quarterly and annual ASC 740 tax provisioning, including uncertain tax positions and related financial statement disclosures, and compliance for the US group and ensure that all tax returns are completed accurately and submitted according to set deadlines and requirements.

  • Support the finance function for tax provisioning purposes.

  • Act as tax lead on a range of projects to ensure efficient tax planning and structuring where appropriate.

  • Work directly with Corporate Development, Finance, Legal, and external advisors on acquisitions, integrations, restructurings, and other strategic transactions.

  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors, including oversight of scope, deliverables, budgets, and tax projects.

  • Provide technical leadership on complex US federal, state, and international (Canada and Japan) tax matters, including tax planning, tax accounting, and business initiatives.

  • Maintain and enhance tax governance, internal controls, and SOX compliance processes supporting the Company’s tax function.

  • Liaise with US federal and state tax authorities as appropriate, including management of tax audits.

  • Stay current on new US tax laws and promote within the group familiarity and identification of tax law changes impacting the company.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

·         Extensive US federal, state, and US international tax experience, including ASC 740 tax accounting, compliance, tax planning, and audit support.

·         Experience managing external advisors and leading cross-functional tax projects, including M&A transactions and business integrations.

·         Experience in US tax code and state tax provisions.

·         Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills are essential in order to liaise with team members and colleagues as well as external advisors.

·         Must be highly self-motivated, dynamic and a multi-tasker with the energy and drive to work on own initiative and manage US tax team
