What's exciting about the role

We are looking for a Senior Director - Tax Operations to join our global tax team and to lead our global tax provision and tax accounting processes, as well as U.S. domestic and international tax compliance. This position is an important leadership role both within the Verifone global tax function as well as the Verifone global finance function.

In this role, the Senior Director - Tax Operations will interface with personnel at various levels of the company, including regional finance, business teams, and external partners. The ideal candidate must possess strong technical and analytical skills, strong organizational and communication skills (both written and oral), be detail-oriented, hands-on, and willing to roll up their sleeves.
Responsibilities
  • Partnering closely with the controllership and FP&A, manage both internal and external resources to prepare interim and annual income tax provision and disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP and ASC 740, including analysis of Uncertain Tax Positions, preparing appropriate reconciliations to explain changes in Effective Tax Rates, analyzing and validating deferred tax balances, and explaining period-on-period changes in all material tax accounts.
  • Managing the preparation of U.S. federal and state and local income tax returns with both internal resources and outside tax providers.
  • Assisting with analysis and review of inter-company transactions to ensure completeness and accuracy, as well as with the management of global transfer pricing documentation.
  • Assisting in the management of income tax audits with both internal and external resources, including preparing and/or reviewing responses to tax notices and information document requests (IDRs) and determining appropriate strategies for settlement and/or resolution.
  • Assisting with important company and functional initiatives and projects such as the transfer pricing strategy, M&A transactions, and various restructurings and legal entity rationalizations.
  • Participating in tax process optimization through greater use of technologies and AI, developing and implementing procedural changes and process improvements to enhance overall efficiency, reducing reliance on external advisers, and building in-house muscle.
  • Performing various other responsibilities as discussed and agreed.
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of progressive experience with corporate income taxes, including compliance and tax accounting in public accounting and/or a corporate tax department.
  • CPA and/or an advanced degree is a plus (MS or LLM).
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and an analytical approach to work product.
  • Ability to work effectively with others as well as independently; strong sense of ownership.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Experienced with Oracle and business objects.
  • Knowledge of Alteryx or other data analytics tools is desirable.

The salary range for this role is $235,000- $300,000 USD. This role is equity eligible. In addition, you may receive a discretionary annual bonus based on individual and company performance. Actual compensation packages within that range are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of relevant experience, certifications, internal equity, and specific location. This salary range, may change in the future, and is just one part of the total rewards package which also includes health benefits and retirement plans.
