Your Role at Baxter:
As an experienced and innovative leader, you will lead all aspects of our R&D Platform, Infusion Systems. You will be responsible for overseeing the product development and sustainability of our Platform, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficacy. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including regulatory affairs, quality assurance and clinicians to ensure that our products meet the needs of patients and healthcare providers. As the Senior Director, R&D Platform Leader you will have a strong background in medical device systems and a track record of successfully leading R&D projects end to end and teams to successfully launch products.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Set the R&D Vision and Strategy
Define and execute the long-term R&D and technology strategy for the INfusion Systems platform, ensuring alignment with business objectives, customer needs, and future market opportunities.
Deliver Innovation and Product Development Results
Lead the successful execution of new product development, platform enhancements, and sustaining engineering initiatives, driv ing high-quality, predictable outcomes from concept through commercialization.
Advance Technology Roadmaps and Future Capabilities
Identify emerging technologies, cultivate technical capabilities, and translate innovation opportunities into technology roadmaps that support product growth, differentiation, and long-term competitiveness.
Build Strong Cross-Functional Partnerships
Partner closely with commercial, clinical, quality, regulatory, manufacturing, program management and external stakeholders to ensure customer-centric solutions that deliver business and patient value.
Ensure Operational Excellence, Compliance, and Talent Development
Drive excellence in design controls, risk management, regulatory compliance, product quality, and cost performance while developing a high-performing R&D organization and leadership team.
Your Team:
Reporting to the VP, R&D – Infusion Systems, Nutrition, and PMO, you will lead a geographically distributed team of up to 250 located in Illinois, New York, Malta and India.

The role is located at our global corporate headquarters in the greater Chicago, IL area northern suburb of Round Lake. Baxter is committed to supporting the needs for flexibility in the workplace. What You’ll Bring:
Advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline (Master's or PhD preferred; MBA a plus)
12+ years of progressive R&D leadership experience, ideally within medica devices or other highly regulated industries.
Proven track record of leading complex product development programs and high-performing, multi-site engineering teams, delivering innovative products from concept through commercialization.
Deep understanding of medical device development and regulatory requirements, including FDA, ISO, design controls, risk management, and quality systems.
Strategic, customer-centric leader with the ability to influence across functions, translate market and customer insights into innovation strategies, and drive organizational alignment to achieve business objectives.

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $232,000-$319,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, commission, and/or long-term incentive.
