Overview

Reporting directly to the Vice-President, Pharmacy Planning & Pricing, the Senior Director, Pharmacy Planning & Insights will lead the team responsible for planning, performance monitoring, and insights across Shoppers Drug Mart and Loblaw retail pharmacy businesses and initiatives. This leader will bring structure to complex and ambiguous business questions, integrate quantitative and qualitative information, and translate analysis into clear, actionable recommendations that support better business decisions and improved performance. Success in this role requires deep retail pharmacy knowledge, strong financial and analytical acumen, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders through concise, compelling communication.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the end-to-end analytics and insights agenda, from framing business questions and conducting analysis through model development, synthesis, and decision-ready recommendations.


  • Own financial planning processes for pharmacy across Shoppers Drug Mart and Loblaw retail pharmacy banners, ensuring leaders have a clear view of performance, outlook, risks, and opportunities.


  • Lead business performance reporting, including executive dashboards and store-level reports, to identify performance drivers and support actions that improve results.


  • Advise senior management on business opportunities and issues, translating analysis into strategic recommendations and clearly articulating financial implications.


  • Serve as a thought leader and strategic partner to Pharmacy and Health stakeholders by providing high-quality insights and analytical support.


  • Advance departmental capabilities by serving as a subject matter expert on pharmacy data, identifying and driving enhancements to the pharmacy BI ecosystem, and partnering with Data Engineering and Pharmacy stakeholders to deliver priority BI and reporting initiatives.


  • Collaborate across functions and with subject matter experts to proactively resolve issues, identify opportunities, and improve business processes.


  • Lead, coach, and develop the Pharmacy Planning & Insights team, setting clear priorities and raising the quality, consistency, and impact of the team's work.


Skills and Experience

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in business or financial analysis, modelling, planning, or insights, including 5+ years of experience in the retail pharmacy sector.


  • University degree in an analytical discipline such as business, engineering, pharmacy, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent post-secondary education.


  • Demonstrated people leadership experience, including the ability to lead, coach, and develop team.


  • Strong business acumen, intellectual curiosity, and structured problem-solving skills, with the ability to bring clarity to ambiguous situations and convert analysis into practical recommendations.


  • Results-oriented and highly organized, with the initiative and judgment to prioritize effectively across competing demands.


  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and across all levels of the organization using tact and diplomacy.


  • Clear and effective executive communication skills, including experience building and presenting compelling business cases, recommendations, and associated financial implications.


  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint, and demonstrated experience with SQL or python.
