Description
The Sr Director, Product & R&D Finance serves as the strategic finance partner to Product and Engineering leadership, driving investment strategy, pricing and monetization, and capital allocation to maximize growth, margin expansion, and long-term value creation.
This role sits at the center of product innovation and financial performance—leading portfolio analytics, forecasting, and scenario modeling to inform product roadmap decisions and ensure disciplined investment against the highest-impact opportunities.
In addition, this role influences pricing and packaging strategy across the product portfolio—partnering with Product, Sales, and GTM Finance to improve price realization, accelerate growth, and strengthen competitive positioning.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Finance & Business Partnering
- Serve as the primary Finance partner to Product, Engineering leadership
- Translate strategy into financial insights, investment priorities, and actionable recommendations
- Provide thought leadership on:
- Product roadmap investments
- Engineering resource allocation and cost structures
- Strategic initiatives and partnerships
Pricing & Packaging Analysis
- Lead pricing and packaging analysis across the product portfolio
- Evaluate and optimize:
- Pricing models (subscription, usage-based, bundling, etc.)
- Discounting strategies and deal structures
- Monetization opportunities across products and customer segments
- Partner with Product, Sales, and GTM Finance to optimize revenue and margin outcomes
Product and Market Analytics
- Deliver insights on:
- Product performance (ARR, margins, adoption trends)
- Customer segmentation and lifetime value
- Develop frameworks to support portfolio prioritization and capital allocation
Planning & Forecasting
- Lead planning and forecasting for Product and Engineering, including:
- Headcount and expense planning
- Investment tracking vs. business case
- Alignment with AOP and long-range plans
- Partner with Corporate FP&A to ensure consistency with enterprise forecasting cycles (e.g., 3+9)
Executive Support & Reporting
- Develop and deliver executive-ready analyses and materials for:
- Board and ELT presentations
- Investment cases and return profiles
- Scenario modeling (growth, cost, margin trade-offs)
- Deliver clear, data-driven insights to support strategic decision making
Process Improvement & Analytics
- Enhance Financial modeling, tools and reporting capabilities
- Improve Product-level reporting and KPI visibility
- Partner with data and analytics teams to enhance insights and automation
Qualifications
Required
- 10+ years of experience in FP&A, strategic finance, or related roles
- Deep experience in:
- Pricing and monetization strategy
- Product or technology business partnering
- Financial modeling and scenario analysis
- Strong executive communication and presentation skills
Preferred
- Experience supporting Product and Engineering organizations in a SaaS or technology company
- Familiarity with:
- ARR / subscription revenue models
- Product lifecycle and portfolio management
- MBA or advanced degree a plus

A reasonable estimate of the base compensation range for this position is $175,800 - $219,800 USD. This compensation range is specific to the United States and it incorporates many factors including but not limited to an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience and training; licensures, degrees, and certifications; internal equity; internal pay ranges; and market data/range parameters.
