Senior Director, Financial Management (FP&A) - Personal Loans

Overview:

Following our 2025 acquisition of Discover, we have a transformative journey ahead of us to both integrate the Discover businesses and catalyze future innovation and growth.  A critical business segment in that journey is Personal Loans.  We are seeking a seasoned Finance leader to serve as the CFO for our Personal Loans business.  The ideal candidate will think strategically and have superior analytical skills, the ability to build collaborative partnerships across a broad set of stakeholders and exceptional problem-solving abilities in undefined and complex situations.

You will have the opportunity to work directly with the Head of Personal Loans and their Business Leadership Team, the Card Finance Leadership Team, and key senior leaders across various Finance disciplines, including Corporate Planning, Accounting, Balance Sheet & Capital Planning, and Corporate Development.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or other quantitative discipline, or military experience

  • At least 10 years of experience in Finance, Business Analytics, Accounting, Strategy Consulting, or a combination

  • At least 6 years of experience managing a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function

  • At least 5 years of people management experience 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Master's Degree in Finance 

  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) license or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license

  • 10+ years of experience managing a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function 

  • 10+ years of people management experience including both direct & indirect reports

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Chicago, IL: $217,000 - $247,700 for Sr. Director, Financial Mgt

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
