Full Job Description

The Senior Director, Enterprise Architecture is a key member of the extended IT leadership team, responsible for developing and maturing a practical enterprise architecture practice that connects infrastructure, applications, data, security, operations and business priorities into an integrated technology roadmap. This role partners closely with IT, business leaders and technology stakeholders to translate strategy into actionable architecture guidance, standards and roadmaps that improve business outcomes.

The role is hands-on, collaborative and consultative. The Senior Director leads the EA practice as an internal advisory capability, helping teams move incrementally toward best practices through coaching, teaching, shared problem solving and pragmatic execution support.


You Will Make an Impact By:

  • Lead and mature the enterprise architecture practice across solution, technical, information, application and portfolio architecture.
  • Develop an integrated enterprise IT strategy that aligns domain roadmaps, investment priorities, operating model needs and business outcomes.
  • Provide practical architecture guidance to business and IT teams, translating best practices into realistic transition plans and incremental adoption steps.
  • Partner with application, infrastructure, security, data and business stakeholders to define target-state architecture, platform standards and rationalization roadmaps.
  • Assess the application and technology landscape to reduce duplication, consolidate overlapping capabilities, retire low-value tools and optimize major platforms and point solutions.
  • Establish and evolve EA governance, standards and minimal viable architectures that guide project, product and technology decisions.
  • Develop diagnostic and actionable deliverables, including current-state and future-state models, capability assessments, roadmaps and investment recommendations.
  • Build relationships across IT and the business by engaging teams where they are, explaining architectural direction and coaching adoption.
  • Develop architecture talent, skills, competencies and operating practices needed to support a high-performing EA function.


Skills You Bring:

  • 15+ years of related experience.
  • Strong enterprise architecture expertise across business, solution, technical, information, application and data architecture.
  • Ability to connect business strategy, operating models, financial considerations, risk management and technology roadmaps.
  • Knowledge of modern technology ecosystems, including SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, APIs, microservices, event-driven architecture, advanced analytics and emerging technologies.
  • Experience with IT service management, system development life cycle practices, agile and lean methodologies, infrastructure and operations, EA frameworks and ITIL.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex environments, identify gaps and develop practical roadmaps that improve business and IT outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Collaborative, pragmatic and consultative leadership style, with strong systems thinking, design thinking, planning and organizational skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in manufacturing environment preferred

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary Pay Range: $200,400.00 - 334,000.00 USD Annual per year. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. 

  • Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].

  • Benefits: MKS offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance coverage (medical, dental and vision), 401(k) with company match, life and disability insurance, 12 paid holidays, sick time, 15 paid vacation days, [6 weeks fully paid] parental leave, adoption assistance and tuition reimbursement [and for participation in any stock programs, signing bonus, etc.

This position is open to remote candidate but there is a strong preference to be based HYBRID and within commutable distance to our location in Andover, MA given primary function and support is based there.
