Full Job Description
Are you ready to shape how breakthrough cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic medicines reach patients—and build contract strategies that enable both access and growth?

This role leads the US contracting strategy for CVRM across payer and channel segments, turning complex market dynamics into clear, value-creating decisions. You will own the strategy from design through pull-through, connecting contract structures to brand ambition, patient impact, and financial performance.

You will lead a high-performing team and partner closely with Brand, Market Access, Trade, Government Pricing, and Customer Experience leaders to translate science into sustainable access. The scope spans purchase agreements for provider-administered products, Medicare Part B and Part D strategies, and value-based concepts that meet evolving partner needs. Based in our Wilmington, DE headquarters in a hybrid model, you will be a visible enterprise leader who sets direction, anticipates change, and guides execution at pace. How will you balance competitiveness, compliance, and patient access to deliver measurable results?

Accountabilities:
  • Contract Strategy Leadership: Set the vision and roadmap for US CVRM contracting across payer and channel segments; lead and develop Contract Strategy Directors and Associate Directors to deliver scalable, segment-focused offerings that align to launch and in-line brand strategies.
  • Launch and In-Line Integration: Translate brand objectives into contracting platforms and deal archetypes; ensure early input into pre-launch planning and rapid iteration post-launch to secure access, optimize gross-to-net, and drive provider and payer pull-through.
  • Value-Based and Innovative Models: Lead the design, approval, and field support of traditional and innovative value-based strategies; partner with customer-facing teams to enable effective negotiations and implementation with distribution channels and national/regional accounts.
  • Continuous Strategy Optimization: Establish a disciplined cadence to re-evaluate contract performance, customer behaviors, and financial integrity; adjust strategies to maintain competitive relevance and protect long-term value.
  • Market and Policy Sensing: Monitor market signals, policy shifts, and competitor moves; translate insights into proactive recommendations on pricing, coverage, and reimbursement strategies across commercial and government programs.
  • Purchase Agreements Leadership: Build and supervise physician-administered contracting strategies for CVRM, ensuring specialty-specific pull-through in cardiology, nephrology, and endocrinology, with clear links to coding, medical benefit dynamics, and practice economics.
  • Medicare Part B Strategy: Lead Part B strategies including WAC/ASP implications, coding, and reimbursement optimization to support provider-administered products; anticipate CMS policy changes and their operational impact.
  • Medicare Part D Strategy: Lead formulary and benefit-phase strategies across tiers, coverage gap, and catastrophic phases for oral and self-administered therapies; integrate Part B vs. Part D dynamics to guide access decisions.
  • Compliance and Operational Excellence: Partner with Government Pricing and Trade to ensure strategies meet CMS and Best Price requirements; supervise operational accuracy across rebates, chargebacks, government reporting, contract writing, and approvals.
  • Enterprise Influence: Serve as a lead resource for Licensing and Business Development on US price and access assumptions; collaborate with Therapeutic Area leadership to deliver ROI-justified proposals and with Customer Experience to prioritize high-impact programs.
  • Performance Management: Define success metrics, assess financial and access outcomes, and provide data-driven recommendations to Brand and Commercial leadership, moving from immediate pilots to enterprise-wide adoption where warranted.

Essential Skills/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Marketing, Science, Economics, Finance, or related rigor).
  • 8+ years of pharmaceutical or related healthcare business experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in pharmaceutical sales, market access, and/or managed care contracting.
  • Strong understanding of Market Access and healthcare delivery as it relates to the US Pharmaceutical industry.
  • Hands-on experience with Purchase Agreements reimbursement models, including physician-administered product contracting, WAC/ASP dynamics, and specialty channel pull-through.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Medicare Part B contracting, including provider reimbursement mechanics, coding strategy, and CMS policy implications.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Medicare Part D contracting, including formulary strategy, coverage gap management, and CMS coverage/reimbursement requirements.
  • Analytical skills including problem solving, forecasting, contract development, and financial modeling.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including a strong focus on customer service.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience managing and developing high-performing teams.

Desirable Skills/Experience:
  • MBA or advanced degree.
  • Experience with both HCP and Consumer Marketing or Account Management.
  • Multi-industry marketing practice experience.
  • Thorough understanding of the AstraZeneca business model, including brand team operations, brand planning, and the sales model.
  • Experience with innovative/outcomes-based contracting models.
  • Familiarity with CMS final rules, inflation rebates, and drug pricing reform implications (IRA).
