Job Summary:
In addition to the responsibilities listed below, this position is responsible for ensuring safe and efficient working conditions under by overseeing and championing the organizations various construction services safety, occupational health, hazardous material, and emergency preparedness programs; driving strategic long-term planning of the organizations readiness in meeting corporate safety goals; and overseeing state-of-the-art solutions to highly-complex issues identified through teams daily rounds and documentation.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Builds organizational capacity and prepares high potentials for growth opportunities and advancement; builds collaborative networks inside and outside the organization for self and others. Provides framework for soliciting and acting on performance feedback; drives collaboration to set goals and provide open feedback and coaching to foster performance improvement. Models and drives continuous learning and oversees the recruitment, selection, and development of talent; stays current with industry trends, benchmarks, and best practices; ensures performance management guidelines and expectations to achieve business needs. Acts as a thought leader on industry trends, benchmarks, and best practices; shares best practices within and across teams to drive improvement. Motivates and empowers teams; maintains a highly skilled and engaged workforce by aligning cross-functional resource plans with business objectives. Provides guidance when difficult decisions need to be made; creates opportunities for expanded scope of decision making and impact across teams.
  • Oversees the operation of multiple units and/or departments by identifying member and operational needs; ensures the management of work assignment allocation and completion; translates business strategy into actionable business requirements; ensures products and/or services meet member requirements and expectations while aligning with organizational strategies. Engages strategic, cross-functional business units to champion and drive support for business plans and priorities; assumes responsibility for decision making; sets standards, measures progress, and ensures resolution of escalated issues. Sets and communicates goals and objectives; analyzes resources, costs, and forecasts and incorporates them into business plans; obtains and distributes resources. Anticipates and removes obstacles that impact performance; addresses performance gaps and implements contingency plans accordingly; ensures teams accomplish business objectives; serves as a subject-matter expert and trusted source to executive leadership; provides influence and consultation in the development of the larger organizational or business strategy.
  • Directs or influences construction operations by: developing and championing advanced strategies and concepts to provide expert strategic guidance, coordination, and management of the support teams area of expertise; designing and driving industry-leading solutions to highly complex problems while extending the understanding of their field expertise, and driving the progressive evolution of the organization; maintaining contact with managers in their areas of expertise and capital project team leaders; and consulting with senior and executive leadership in National Facilities Services (NFS) and KP on company-wide initiatives;
  • Directs or influences construction deliverables by: accountable for an area of expertise by providing overall technical and strategic direction to senior leadership and directing the delivery and influences and coordinates enterprise staffing of various deliverables with responsibility and accountability for teams deliverables; accountable for the planning and execution of the training criteria, training tools, development, analysis, oversight of staffing, which includes performance management, core behaviors, and resource forecast to provide successful implementation; accountable for managing the enterprise alignment of the financial portfolio and ensures they are managed within budget allocations across departments/teams and approving budget recommendations; accountable for performance across the area of expertises portfolio, establishes organizational objectives; accountable for change management (e.g., development and execution of user adoption, implementation, and training plans); and accountable for proper allocation of resources, establishes schedules, and task assignments to ensure established management practices are in place.
  • Contributes to vendor relationship management by: providing the vision for the relationship management of vendors and ensuring the team sets appropriate standards for vendor assessment, performance, and compliance with current vendor management practices; obtaining cutting-edge research knowledge on vendor relationship management and overseeing the development of advanced strategies for business practices; and driving the progressive evolution of efficiency and effectiveness of vendor performance analytics and vendor assessments in accordance with company-wide initiatives.
  • Provides accountability for KP compliance by: overseeing and driving strategic long-term plans for the development, implementation, and evaluation of effective policies, standards, practices, and procedures in alignment with construction-related regulations; and championing advanced strategies and concepts to determine the best course of action throughout the organization to ensure that the buildings are in compliance with fire prevention, general safety, seismic conformance, health hazards protection, and disaster/emergency preparedness plans.
  • Contributes to the management of knowledge and documents by: championing a learning-oriented culture and encouraging team members to share professional and/or technical expertise in alignment with organizational objectives; championing the evolution of documents, policies and practices to promote continuous improvement in alignment with organizational objectives; and accountable for providing program-level oversight of training and knowledge management practices to increase knowledge (e.g., Business Process Package, Community of Practice), monitoring subsequent progress on organizational goals, and communicating results with executive leadership.
  • Utilizes data and metrics throughout construction management process by: directing teams to analyze and apply metrics to plan and scope future efforts (e.g., building the business case, timeline, resources required) by establishing organizational objectives based on metrics; and championing the use of metrics to monitor and improve performance across the organization, and utilizing metrics to report performance trends to executive leadership.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum four (4) years of experience managing operational or project budgets.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in a leadership role with direct reports.
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Architecture Construction Management, Business Administration, Computer Sciences, Finance, Law, Planning, Interior Design, Cost Estimating, or related field AND minimum twelve (12) years of experience in construction management, field construction, design, construction/project management software, procurement, contract administration, a directly related field OR Minimum fifteen (15) years of experience in years of experience in construction management, field construction, design, construction/project management software, procurement, contract administration, a directly related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Hazardous Materials/Waste Management Certification, Hazardous Waste Operations & Emergency Response (HAZWOPER0).
  • Safety Supervisor Certification (SSC), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST).
