Full Job Description
Senior Director, Agentic Engineering

We're looking for a Senior Director, Agentic Engineering to build and lead the platform, capabilities, and operating model that enable Lightspeed's Product & Technology teams to work effectively with AI agents across the full product development lifecycle.

Reporting to the SVP, Engineering, this is a foundational leadership role with company-wide impact. You will turn rapidly evolving agentic technology into secure, reliable, and reusable capabilities that help teams discover, design, build, test, ship, and operate better products faster. Success will be measured not by experimentation alone, but by adoption and sustained improvements in product quality, engineering velocity, developer experience, and business outcomes.

Please note this role is based in the United States.

What you'll be doing
  • Define the multi-year vision, strategy, and roadmap for agentic engineering at Lightspeed, translating business and product priorities into a platform investment plan.
  • Build and lead the teams responsible for shared agentic platform capabilities, including reusable agents, workflow orchestration, context and knowledge access, tool integrations, evaluation, observability, and governance.
  • Create an extensible platform and paved-road experience that allows Product, Design, Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams to adopt agentic workflows without rebuilding core capabilities independently.
  • Partner with Retail, Hospitality, Payments, and platform leaders on highest-value product development use cases, launch them with early teams, and scale proven patterns across Lightspeed.
  • Establish a rigorous evaluation system for agent performance, output quality, reliability, security, cost, and human oversight so teams can use agents with confidence in production workflows.
  • Work closely with Security, Privacy, Legal, Data, and Architecture leaders to embed responsible AI, access controls, data protection, auditability, and risk management into the platform by design.
  • Define the operating model for agentic development, including standards, reusable patterns, ownership boundaries, enablement, support, and mechanisms for sharing learning across teams.
  • Drive adoption and change across a global organization by helping leaders redesign workflows, build team capability, and move from tool usage to measurable operating-model change.
  • Own outcome metrics for the platform, including adoption, active usage, developer and product experience, cycle-time improvement, quality, reliability, cost efficiency, and demonstrated business impact.
  • Hire, coach, and develop a strong leadership and technical bench, while building an inclusive, high-performing organization with high standards for execution and learning.

What you need to bring:

We're looking for a senior engineering leader who can combine platform depth, AI fluency, product judgment, and enterprise change leadership. You should have experience with the following:
  • Leading leaders and senior technical talent in a software engineering organization, with a record of building high-performing teams through managers and staff-plus engineers.
  • Defining and scaling internal platforms, developer platforms, shared engineering capabilities, or infrastructure products in a complex, multi-product environment.
  • Building or deploying AI-enabled and agentic systems, including model and tool orchestration, retrieval and context systems, evaluation frameworks, automation, observability, and human-in-the-loop controls.
  • Partnering effectively with senior stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Design, Data, Security, Privacy, Legal, and business functions.
  • Leading organizational change across distributed teams, including workflow redesign, enablement, communication, and adoption at scale.
  • Establishing high standards for architecture, engineering quality, operational resilience, responsible AI, security, and cost management.
  • Communicating complex technical and strategic concepts clearly to executives, technical leaders, and cross-functional teams.
  • 15+ years of experience and Bachelor's degree in CS or related field.
