What You Will Do:
  • Own and evolve the Rental Data Model strategy to support current and future rental business needs across Caterpillar and dealer networks.
  • Serve as the primary bridge between rental business stakeholders and engineering teams, ensuring business requirements are accurately translated into scalable digital solutions.
  • Define and prioritize the product roadmap and backlog for rental data and dealer integration capabilities.
  • Partner with rental business leaders and subject matter experts to establish common definitions, standards, and business rules for key rental entities such as equipment, customers, contracts, rates, invoices, jobsites, and fleet operations.
  • Drive alignment across teams on how rental data is captured, interpreted, and utilized throughout the digital ecosystem.
  • Lead dealer onboarding and integration initiatives, ensuring successful adoption of enterprise rental data standards and processes.
  • Identify business challenges, operational inefficiencies, and data gaps impacting customers, dealers, and internal teams, and define solutions that create measurable business value.
  • Analyze rental, customer, equipment, and dealer data to identify trends, business opportunities, data quality issues, and integration gaps.
  • Use data and analytics to validate business requirements, investigate production issues, support decision-making, and measure business outcomes.
  • Partner with engineering teams to provide rental business context, clarify requirements, and support solution design and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and architects to define data requirements, establish data standards, and ensure effective data governance practices.
  • Validate data accuracy and integrity by performing data analysis, data reconciliation, and root cause investigations across multiple systems and data sources.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability across dealer systems and enterprise platforms to enable trusted reporting, analytics, and customer-facing experiences.
  • Collaborate with product teams, analytics teams, and business stakeholders to understand evolving needs and ensure the Rental Data Model continues to support strategic business objectives.
  • Act as an advocate for the rental business throughout product development, ensuring business priorities remain at the center of technical implementation decisions.

What You Will Have:
  • Business Analysis: Knowledge of business analysis and the set of tasks, techniques and tools required to identify business needs; ability to recommend solutions that deliver value to stakeholders.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Software Problem Management: Knowledge of strategies, practices and tools for resolving software problems; ability to manage software problems in installed software products.
  • Software Product Business Knowledge: Knowledge of and experience with the business aspects and operation of a software product; ability to manage install base, current uses, future plans, and product vision.

Considerations For Top Candidates:
  • Experience working in cross-functional environments involving business stakeholders, engineering teams, data teams, and external partners.
  • Experience working with complex datasets and data models, including validation of data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases, data warehouses, or modern cloud-based data platforms.
  • Experience using analytics and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Data Explorer, or similar technologies.

  • Familiarity with APIs, system integrations, and data exchange concepts.
  • Knowledge of data-driven products and digital platforms, with an appreciation for the role of data in enabling business value and customer experiences.
  • Experience in the equipment rental industry, dealer operations, construction equipment, or related business domains.
