Full Job Description
We are seeking Senior Designer/Drafter- Substations to add to our growing team. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep experience in both physical layout and protection & control (P&C) drafting, who can work independently and collaborate effectively with engineers, project managers, and clients.

The Senior Designer will be responsible for producing and reviewing CAD drawings, coordinating design standards, and supporting all phases of substation projects-from conceptual layouts to construction-ready deliverables. This position offers remote flexibility with occasional travel for site visits or client coordination.

What You Will Do:
  • Develop detailed schematics for AC/DC systems, control circuits, and relay logic
  • Draft single-line, three-line, and interconnection diagrams
  • Create wiring diagrams for control panels, relay racks, and equipment terminations
  • Integrate SCADA, RTU, and communication system layouts
  • Coordinate with engineers to ensure accurate relay settings and device configurations
  • Produce substation layout drawings including plan views, elevation views, and section details
  • Draft conduit and cable routing plans, grounding layouts, and equipment arrangements
  • Prepare foundation and structural support drawings in coordination with civil/structural teams
  • Generate bill of materials (BOM), cable schedules, and panel schedules
  • Apply client-specific drafting standards and ensure consistency across deliverables
  • Perform quality checks and redline reviews of drawings from junior designers
  • Collaborate with engineers to resolve design issues and incorporate field markups
  • Maintain organized drawing sets and revision control throughout the project lifecycle

What You Will Bring:
