Position Summary: Performs multiple assignments of moderate to complex scope with minimal guidance from supervisor, engineers, or detailed procedures. Independently evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. Assignments have a clear and specified objective requiring application of multiple engineering principals. Trains other engineers and technicians within area of engineering expertise.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: - Assists with the definitions of product development projects working with Marketing and end-users.
- Develop design concept for product. Concept is influenced by defined contract goals and evaluation of competitors' like products.
- Responsibility for designing and specifying form, fit, function of components of a product.
- Develop and complete test plans to evaluate products.
- Extracts and analyzes a variety of engineering data to influence appropriate design path.
- Creates documentation to support design and meet requirements.
- Interacts and builds consensus with other functional departments (materials, manufacturing, assembly, etc.) to assure broad success of product design
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: Required: - BS degree in engineering plus appropriate continuous training
- 5+ years of experience or developmental experience in a professional position

- Advanced skills in data collection, testing and analysis
- Ability to solve complex problems and complete multiple projects concurrently

- Proficient with typical office software skills
- Proficiency with software packages supporting design including, 3-D CAD, Tolerance analysis, Stress analysis, Statistical analysis and DEFMA.

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements : - Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
