Job OverviewThe Sr. Deployment Specialist is responsible for planning, installing, and supporting Komatsu Mining Technology hardware and systems across customer sites. This role bridges technical deployment, presales engagement, and cross-functional project coordination to ensure successful delivery of value-added technology solutions. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with strong communication skills and a passion for enabling customers to optimize safety, productivity, and operational performance.
Key Job Responsibilities- Travel up to 50% to customer sites to support presales engagements, scoping activities, and solution deployments.
- Participate in presales activities, including customer meetings, solution discussions, quote development support, and hardware pre-configuration.
- Support the Deployment Manager with project coordination tasks, scheduling, communication, and documentation. Assist in delivering on time, on budget projects with high customer satisfaction.
- Install and assist in deploying machine-mounted hardware, office-based physical servers, and associated network infrastructure.
- Serve as the regional subject matter expert (SME) for hardware deployment, providing technical guidance to the Field Services team.
- Lead and support regional surveying services, performing onsite survey work and assisting sales teams with technical inputs.
- Provide deployment-focused support across all Mining Technology Solutions (MTS) products, while also delivering general customer support as required.
- Collaborate with global hardware and software engineering teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving deployment efficiency, product quality, and cost management.
- Coordinate and oversee third-party vendors or contractors to execute complex installation activities.
- Take ownership of the hardware installation lifecycle, ensuring successful and high-quality deployments across the region.
- Maintain accurate and timely business-system records, including travel logs, harvested hours, expense reports, Sales Order Management (SOM) tickets, project plans, and installation documentation.
Qualifications/RequirementsRequired Skills & Experience- Minimum 10+ years of experience in field service, mining technology, heavy equipment systems, networking, or comparable technical deployment roles.
- Contributed to large scale technology deployments exceeding $2M in value or 100+ units
- Proven experience installing, configuring, or supporting industrial hardware, in-vehicle technology systems, or fleet-based technology solutions.
- Prior experience serving as a lead technician on major mining technology deployment or large-scale field implementation.
- Solid understanding of electrical instrumentation, low-voltage systems, and fundamental electrical theory.
- Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of mining safety culture, compliance standards, and site operating procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, cabling plans, engineering drawings, and installation documentation.
- Ability to meet all mine-site access requirements and perform physical labor at customer locations across North America.
- Must hold a valid passport and be eligible to travel throughout the United States and Canada.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% annually, typically in multi-week rotations (1-4 weeks at a time) throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Additional InformationPreferred Skills & Experience- Experience with mining technology systems such as fleet management, wireless networks, autonomous solutions, machine health monitoring, high-precision guidance, or production monitoring platforms.
- Familiarity with Komatsu equipment, technologies, organizational culture, and solution portfolio.
- Project management experience or industry-recognized certification (PMP, CAPM, or equivalent).
- Working knowledge of GPS/GNSS technologies, sensors, telemetry systems, and industrial IoT hardware.
- Demonstrated proficiency in networking, software configuration and systematic troubleshooting of technical systems.
- 5+ years of experience working in or directly supporting the mining industry.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, industrial technology, or a related technical field.
- Relevant technical certifications, such as diesel/heavy equipment technician, electrical technician, networking technician, Trimble/Topcon system repair, survey technician, or radio communications credentials.
