About the Opportunity
DMI, LLC is seeking a Senior DBA to join us. The Senior Database Administrator manages all aspects of NTSB's database infrastructure across production, staging, and QA/test environments. This role leads the migration of on-premises SQL databases to Azure SQL, establishes security and archiving strategies, and ensures database performance and availability in support of NTSB's enterprise applications.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage and support production, staging, and QA/test database environments
- Lead migration of on-premises SQL Server databases to Azure SQL, including planning, execution, and validation
- Design and implement database security controls, backup strategies, and archiving procedures
- Monitor and tune database performance; conduct capacity planning across all managed environments
- Support import and export of data in large volumes, including integration with enterprise data pipelines
- Maintain and configure MySQL, MS SQL Server, and MongoDB instances across cloud and on-premises deployments
- Collaborate with application development and data engineering teams to optimize database schemas and query performance
- Apply cloud database deployment knowledge across Azure SQL, open-source options, and traditional relational database management system (RDBMS) solutions
- Document database configurations, standards, and change management procedures
Qualifications
Education and Years of Experience
- Master's degree (M.S. or M.A.) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Database Management, or a related field
- Minimum 10 years of database administration experience
- Extensive hands-on experience with MS SQL Server, MySQL, and MongoDB
- Demonstrated experience with Azure SQL and cloud database deployment
- Working knowledge of database security, backup, recovery, and archiving at enterprise scale Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Factory, or Microsoft Fabric
- Familiarity with NTSB or federal government IT environments
- Experience with database performance monitoring tools and capacity planning methodologies
- Microsoft Certified Database Administrator or equivalent certification Degree Substitution Eight additional years of relevant experience beyond the minimum may substitute for the required degree. Six additional years combined with a qualifying certification may also substitute.
Background Requirements: Must possess or be eligible to obtain and successfully complete a Public Trust background investigation and/or a Public Trust clearance.
