Full Job Description
Business Unit Regular, Full time Closing Date: September 30, 2026 The opportunity Reporting to the Manager, Analytics & Technology Innovation, you will provide strategic leadership and hands-on technical expertise in advanced analytics and data science. You will develop cloud-based analytics products, help shape the OSC's analytics roadmap, and guide technical staff while collaborating with stakeholders across the organization. This is an opportunity for an experienced data science professional who combines deep technical capability with strong business judgment, clear communication, and an understanding of capital markets or regulatory environments. What you will do • Lead the design and delivery of advanced analytics and data science solutions for divisions across the OSC. • Mine, clean, analyze and synthesize large structured and unstructured data sets into useful data products and insights. • Architect, prototype, test and deliver complex cloud-based analytics solutions that demonstrate business value quickly. • Lead multiple analytics projects in parallel, managing deliverables, timelines, service commitments and stakeholder expectations. • Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify needs, onboard and refine data, and translate abstract concepts into tangible deliverables. • Apply Python, artificial intelligence, natural language processing and text mining to solve complex business problems. • Contribute to analytics standards, methodologies, controls and best practices, including code review, quality assurance and knowledge sharing. • Guide and mentor data science team staff, coordinate task-level work, monitor progress and support capability development. • Build training materials and educate OSC staff on new analytics processes and products. • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, stakeholder demonstrations and daily scrums. What you bring • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, computer science, computer engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. A master's degree is considered an asset. • At least five years of relevant experience in data science, advanced analytics or application development. • Experience working in capital markets, a regulatory environment or a financial setting. • Advanced proficiency with Python and experience with analytics or development technologies such as R, Scala, PySpark, Angular or React JS. • Strong experience delivering complex data science solutions using open-source tools and Microsoft Azure services. • Expertise in natural language processing, text mining, artificial intelligence, and structured and unstructured big data. • The ability to assess emerging AI developments and identify practical applications for the organization. • Excellent critical thinking, analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills. • The ability to communicate complex technical and business concepts clearly to diverse audiences at all levels. • Strong stakeholder relationship, negotiation, organization and prioritization skills, with a results-oriented approach. • Experience mentoring junior staff and helping build stronger technical teams.
