SummaryThe Senior Credit Analyst plays a critical role in the financial and risk assessment of customer credit applications and ongoing customer relationships. This role communicates regularly with the business and customers to ensure accurate account statements and timely collections of amounts due to the Company. Additionally, the Senior Credit Analyst works with less experienced Credit Analysts to ensure positive performance for the Credit and Collections team.
Essential FunctionsCredit Risk Assessment & Underwriting- Conduct thorough credit underwriting for new and existing customers by evaluating credit information from banks, trade creditors, and credit reports to ensure appropriate credit limits.
- Analyze financial data and creditworthiness to support informed credit decisions.
Collections & Account Management- Maintain regular contact with customers to ensure accounts receivable remains current.
- Address any past-due amounts promptly, working with customers to achieve quick resolution.
- Process, follow up, and resolve inbound collection and customer service telephone inquiries in a timely manner.
- Maintain comprehensive tracking and documentation of all customer interactions.
Delinquency Resolution & Escalation- Act decisively by making timely recommendations to the Manager of Credit & Collections.
- Propose efficient and effective corrective actions to resolve delinquency, bring accounts up to date, or take necessary steps to ensure satisfactory resolution.
Lien Rights & Compliance- Monitor lien rights and provide necessary reporting to the business regarding past-due amounts with expiring lien rights.
- Process lien releases as needed to maintain compliance.
Collaboration & Relationship Management- Work in a team-oriented environment that requires communicating positively and professionally with fellow employees, customers, and vendors.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships.
- Support and mentor less experienced Credit Analysts to drive team performance.
Education & ExperienceRequired- 5+ years of experience as a Credit Analyst or in a similar financial analysis role.
- Strong knowledge of financial analysis techniques, credit risk assessment, and credit underwriting principles.
Preferred- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
Skills & CompetenciesFinancial & Analytical Expertise- Familiarity with credit bureau reports and credit scoring models.
- Proficiency in using financial analysis software and tools.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
Communication & Relationship Management- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Compliance & Business Acumen- Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and compliance requirements.
- Sound judgment and decision-making capabilities related to credit risk.
