Credit Portfolio Manager - Commercial Real Estate Southeast Regional Bank | Tennessee & Kentucky Markets | Remote
About the Opportunity A well-capitalized Southeast regional bank with significant growth ambitions in commercial real estate is building out its CRE lending presence in Tennessee and Kentucky. This is a high-visibility, ground-floor opportunity to serve as the primary underwriting support for a senior Relationship Manager running a fast-moving pipeline of institutional-quality deals - not a pool position, not a back-office role.
The bank operates at regional scale with the sophistication of a larger institution, and is actively expanding its footprint in some of the fastest-growing banking markets in the country.
What You'll Do - Lead underwriting on a high-volume new-deal pipeline across construction and stabilized CRE - multifamily and industrial are the primary product types, with hotel, warehouse, and select retail/office in the mix
- Analyze complex capital structures including institutional LP arrangements, construction budgets, stabilized cash flows, and market comparables
- Partner directly with a senior RM as his primary credit counterpart - you'll field deal flow from sponsors headquartered in TN and KY, with approved exception markets
- Own covenant setup and portfolio monitoring as the book matures alongside the pipeline
- Work within a modern banking platform with active AI/technology adoption bank-wide
What We're Looking For - Meaningful commercial real estate underwriting experience - multifamily and industrial depth strongly preferred
- Familiarity with institutional LP structures and how the capital stack is assembled
- Construction and stabilized deal experience; comfort with draw administration, sources/uses, and lease analysis
- Experience on larger credits ($10M-$60M range); able to work independently with limited ramp-up
- Self-starter mindset - underwriting training capacity is limited and you'll need to hit the ground running
- Tech-forward; comfortable with nCino or similar platforms and open to AI tool adoption
- Must be able to work effectively in a fully remote environment
