Job OverviewThe Senior Cost Accountant plays a critical role in the financial management of the Roanoke manufacturing facility by overseeing and optimizing cost-related processes. This position provides detailed cost analysis, inventory valuation, and operational insights to support decision-making and improve manufacturing efficiency. The role acts as a financial partner to plant leadership and department managers, helping translate operational performance into actionable financial strategy.
Highlights of your role- Conduct in-depth cost analysis across materials, direct labor, indirect labor, overhead, and inventory valuation.
- Identify cost-reduction opportunities and recommend strategies to lower the cost to produce our windows and doors.
- Prepare and analyze monthly plant financial results, including variance analysis versus plan and prior periods.
- Support the development, monitoring, and analysis of annual operating budgets and financial forecasts.
- Ensure proper inventory valuation, controls, and compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.
- Prepare clear, consistent financial reporting for plant leadership and departmental managers.
- Facilitate monthly financial review meetings with plant and departmental leadership, highlighting financial performance, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Provide insights into cost trends, operational drivers, and financial risks to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with operations, supply chain and other departments to gather data and insights for accurate cost analysis.
- Establish annual labor and overhead rates for complete and accurate absorption of costs
- Support month-end and year-end closing procedures and preparation of financial presentations. Perform account reconciliations and manual journal entries as needed.

- High level of ownership, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modeling and data
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with accounting and ERP systems
- Ability to plan/ facilitate meetings
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Also want to make sure you have- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred
- Proven experience as a Cost Analyst or similar role, with 5-7 years of relevant experience
Compensation$76,000 - $100,000 annually
