Full Job Description
OVERVIEW

ALO is seeking an experienced corporate attorney to join its growing in-house legal department. This position requires a strategic, hands-on lawyer with corporate and commercial experience gained at a leading law firm and in-house, who is comfortable operating autonomously in a fast-moving environment. The position is an in-office role.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Contract Drafting and Negotiation:
    • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage the full lifecycle of a wide variety of commercial contracts across the business, including logistics and supply chain contracts, product endorsement agreements, technology, SaaS, AI and data-related agreements, professional services agreements, NDAs, statements of work, and other commercial agreements.
    • Work closely with legal support staff to ensure all contracts are properly executed, tracked and stored.
  • Policy Development:
    • Collaborate with internal business teams to develop, implement, review, and maintain company policies and procedures to ensure they align with legal requirements and industry standards.
  • International Operations:
    • Collaborate with relevant business teams to address legal issues related to international retail operations, cross-border vendor relationships, and global expansion.
    • Coordinate with outside counsel on jurisdiction-specific regulatory or contractual matters.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Serve as a trusted legal partner to teams including procurement, finance, IT, digital, creative, marketing and operations.
    • Communicate legal guidance clearly and practically to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Vendor Management:
    • Manage relationships with outside counsel and other external legal service providers and ensure their performance aligns with company expectations and standards.
  • Other:
    • Join a growing team that supports all aspects of the business and work closely with other legal team members (including IP, litigation, real estate, employment, and compliance).
    • Proactively develop expertise in new legal and business areas as the business grows.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • J.D. from a top tier law school and strong academic credentials
  • Admission to the California bar
  • Seven to ten years of relevant transactional experience in big law and in-house
  • Experience negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements
  • Retail and apparel experience is a plus
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail and a strong work ethic
  • Outstanding analytical and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Self-starter with ability to balance many projects simultaneously and complete tasks accurately, on schedule and with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to accommodate tight deadlines

The base pay range for this position is $225,000-265,000, which represents the current range for the exempt position. Please note that actual compensation will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience and performance. Please also note the range listed is just one component of the company's total rewards package for exempt employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, long term incentives, a PTO policy, and many other progressive benefits.
