Job Description

The Operational Solutions and Technologies team is dedicated to delivering innovative solutions that enhance the resilience, efficiency, and sustainability of critical infrastructure, systems, and engineering projects. Leveraging expertise in cybersecurity, telecommunications, IT/OT convergence, intelligent automation, software and systems engineering, and systems integration, the team develops resilient, scalable, and optimized solutions that ensure the long-term sustainability of infrastructure throughout its lifecycle. Join us and immerse yourself in a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative environment where you'll make a real impact. Together, we'll push boundaries and go above what's expected of us to meet the challenges of tomorrow and engineer a better world!

CIMA+ is looking for a Senior Consultant - Operational Systems & Digital Solutions to join and help grow our Operational and Digital Technologies practice in the Greater Toronto Area and Ontario.

We are specifically looking for a senior professional with experience in technology systems and digital solutions that directly support physical operations, infrastructure and operational assets. Our immediate focus is the transit market, and meaningful experience with technologies supporting transit operations will be a strong consideration in candidate selection. Relevant experience from other operationally intensive and asset-based sectors, including defence, airports, energy, utilities and critical infrastructure, will be strongly considered.

The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of operational applications and their underlying technology environment, including systems integration, software, APIs and middleware, data platforms, cloud and on-premises infrastructure, networks and cybersecurity. We are not looking for a specialist in every technology layer, but rather for someone with sufficient technical depth and breadth to understand how these components come together to deliver reliable, integrated, end-to-end operational solutions.

This is not a corporate IT, managed services, system administration or software product development role. We are particularly interested in candidates whose technology experience has been acquired in environments where digital systems are closely connected to day-to-day operations, physical assets, field activities or mission-critical services.

Beyond technical expertise, we are looking for an entrepreneurial, autonomous and results-oriented professional who wants to play an active role in developing CIMA+'s presence in Ontario. The successful candidate will be expected to build trusted client relationships, identify and shape opportunities, lead assignments, mobilize expertise from across CIMA+, and progressively contribute to the growth of our local team and business.

Primary Responsibilities

Client Advisory and Local Representation
  • Act as a senior technology advisor and local representative of CIMA+'s Operational and Digital Technology practice with clients in the GTA and Ontario
  • Develop trusted relationships with client stakeholders, including business, operational, engineering, and technology teams
  • Present technical issues, alternatives, risks, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Maintain effective communication between clients, CIMA+ project teams, technical specialists, and other project participants

Systems and Technology Advisory
  • Advise clients on the planning, modernization, integration, and implementation of complex information and operational technology systems
  • Assess existing technology environments, systems, architectures, and processes to identify gaps, risks, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement
  • Develop technology strategies, roadmaps, requirements, solution concepts, options analyses, and implementation approaches
  • Contribute to assignments involving enterprise and operational systems, custom software, systems integration, cloud infrastructure, data platforms, analytics, automation, and emerging technologies
  • Evaluate technology alternatives considering operational requirements, interoperability, cybersecurity, scalability, lifecycle, cost, and implementation risks
  • Support system architecture, technology selection, procurement, implementation, integration, and modernization initiatives

Technology Integration, Software and Data
  • Support the definition of system and application integration strategies across operational systems, enterprise applications, cloud environments, SaaS platforms, and third-party solutions
  • Work with other technical specialists to define appropriate architectures, interfaces, APIs, middleware, and data exchange approaches
  • Contribute to assignments involving automation, AI, IoT, and other emerging digital capabilities where appropriate

Practice and Business Development
  • Contribute to establishing and growing CIMA+'s Operational and Digital Technology presence in Ontario
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients
  • Participate in proposals, qualifications, presentations, and client interviews
  • Connect opportunities in Ontario with expertise available across CIMA+ and help assemble multidisciplinary teams to pursue and deliver them
  • Transit and Industry Experience

Transit industry experience is strongly preferred and will be an important consideration in candidate selection. Relevant transit experience may include expertise with systems such as:
  • Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)
  • CAD/AVL and fleet management systems
  • Fare collection and fare integration
  • Automatic Passenger Counting (APC)
  • GTFS and GTFS-Realtime
  • Transit data and analytics platforms
  • Operational Technology and control systems
  • Integration between operational and enterprise systems

Qualifications
  • University degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, or a related discipline
  • Approximately 10 or more years of relevant professional experience in technology consulting, systems engineering, information technology, software, infrastructure, cloud, data, systems integration, Operational Technology, or related fields
  • Experience with complex, operational, or mission-critical systems environments is highly valued.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with clients in a consulting, advisory, engineering, or project delivery environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams.
  • Ability to operate effectively with limited day-to-day supervision and take ownership of client and project needs
  • Integrity, team spirit, and a commitment to excellence
