Full Job Description
West Monroe is seeking a Senior Consultant to join our Energy & Utilities practice in Los Angeles or San Francisco. In this role, you will help utilities navigate complex business, technology, and operational challenges as the industry evolves. Our team is at the forefront of the transformation taking place in the energy and utilities industry, from up-front strategic advisement through implementation of the field and back-office technologies that are central to the energy transition. You will manage workstreams and deliverables, translate client needs into practical solutions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver measurable outcomes. You will also contribute to business development and practice priorities while continuing to build your energy and utilities expertise.

What You Will Do

Client Delivery:
  • Manage project workstreams and deliverables, maintaining alignment with client expectations, timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Analyze business processes, operating models, data, and technology needs across energy and utility organizations and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Facilitate client interviews, workshops, requirements sessions, and working meetings with business and technology stakeholders.
  • Identify project risks, dependencies, and potential issues and work with project leadership to develop mitigation plans.
  • Develop clear, client-ready analyses, presentations, recommendations, and implementation plans.
  • Perform quality assurance on project work and collaborate with team members to deliver accurate, consistent results.
  • Leverage AI tools to accelerate analysis, synthesize complex information, and support data-driven recommendations for clients, exercising sound judgment in evaluating outputs.
  • Apply AI technologies (e.g., generative AI, automation tools, data models) to enhance insights, improve delivery efficiency, and elevate the quality of client outcomes.

Business Development:
  • Support client and industry research, proposal development, and pursuit materials for Energy & Utilities opportunities.
  • Bring knowledge and insights from client engagements to pursuit teams and support development of relevant solutions.
  • Participate in industry, functional, or technical events and help strengthen West Monroe's presence in the market.

Practice Development:
  • Share energy and utilities knowledge with colleagues and contribute to the development of team capabilities.
  • Help develop and improve methodologies, tools, templates, and reusable assets that increase delivery effectiveness.
  • Support recruiting, coaching, knowledge sharing, and initiatives that foster an inclusive and collaborative culture.

What You Will Bring:
  • 4+ years of consulting, professional services, energy and utilities, or relevant industry experience.
  • Experience supporting energy or utility organizations, with knowledge of areas such as electric or gas utilities, grid modernization, customer operations, asset management, regulatory transformation, clean energy, or technology-enabled transformation.
  • Experience managing workstreams, deliverables, timelines, risks, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, facilitation, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work across business and technology teams and translate complex challenges into clear recommendations.
  • Experience integrating AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) into day-to-day workflows to enhance productivity and insight generation, coupled with strong critical thinking to assess accuracy, mitigate bias, and ensure high-quality outputs.
  • Ability to travel 50-75% annually.

Based on pay transparency guidelines, the salary range for this role can vary based on your proximity to one of our West Monroe offices (see table below). Information on our competitive total rewards package, including our bonus structure and benefits is here. Individual salaries are determined by evaluating a variety of factors including geography, experience, skills, education, and internal equity.
