What you’ll be doing
CIBC’s Communications & Public Affairs team manages all internal corporate-level communications for employees. As a Senior Consultant, Communications & Public Affairs, you'll play a key role in planning and executing communications that support the Chief Administrative Office (CAO). Within this scope, you will report to the Director, Communications & Public Affairs, and work with members of the Communications & Public Affairs team, to support and execute communication strategies and plans as well as employee engagement activities that foster a solid understanding of the purpose-driven and growth-minded strategic direction of CIBC.
You'll focus on multimedia storytelling to showcase the mandates of these groups, strategic initiatives, and employee engagement activities. Your responsibilities will include writing, editing, event planning, providing communications counsel, and tactical execution. You'll collaborate with partners across the CAO to plan and deliver employee events, produce multimedia content, and shape communications strategies that drive engagement and alignment.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You'll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
How you’ll succeed
- Communications and Multimedia Expertise – Lead the execution of strategic communications plans and events that support CAO initiatives, priorities, and employee engagement. Manage the planning and production of employee messaging, and experiment with new storytelling tools and formats. Confidently work with senior executives in multimedia settings and provide expert advice on effective communication.
- Relationship Management and Business Acumen – Build strong partnerships with senior executives and teams across the CAO, focusing on achieving shared outcomes. Embrace a growth mindset to learn about emerging technologies, tools, and new ways of working in financial services. Collaborate with teams in multimedia production, corporate events, business management, intranet, and translation to deliver impactful communications programs.
- Influence and Advise – Apply your communications and multimedia expertise to ensure all programs align with our objectives. Ensure communications are delivered with the right tone, content, and timing, while upholding CIBC’s brand standards. Provide recommendations to improve the efficiency and quality of communication programs year-over-year. Play a key role in implementing communication strategies and tactics that drive results.
- Project and Priority Management – Demonstrate excellent project management skills by effectively handling competing and simultaneous priorities. Take initiative as a self-starter, collaborating with others and demonstrating accountability in all aspects of your work.
- Attention to detail in a fast-paced environment – Staying current with CIBC and client/business strategies/priorities while ensuring accuracy of information through attention to detail as well as sensitivity to context. A strong ability to execute against high volumes, swift pace, and tight deadlines, while managing multiple deliverables in a time-sensitive environment.
Who you are
- You have significant communications experience as a skilled communicator. You bring 8+ years in a communications or marketing role. You have excellent writing, editing, and proofing skills, with first-rate attention to detail. You translate complex concepts into relevant and relatable media formats.
- You excel at project management. Your strong project management skills help you manage competing and demanding priorities.
- You have executive communications and event management experience. Previous experience in these areas is an asset.
- You build strong relationships. You have the ability to build trust, influence others, and achieve results through collaboration.
- You put our clients first. You engage with purpose to find the right solutions. You go the extra mile, because it's the right thing to do.
