Senior Construction Quality Manager

Location: Leesburg, VA
Job Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Starting Salary: From $115,000 per year (Higher starting salary available based on experience)

We are looking for an experienced Senior Construction Quality Manager to lead quality management efforts on commercial, industrial, and institutional construction projects. This position ensures construction activities meet contract requirements, project specifications, and established quality standards while maintaining complete and accurate project records.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with project leadership, field teams, subcontractors, inspectors, and project stakeholders to monitor quality, address deficiencies, and support successful project completion.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project quality control programs from project startup through final closeout.
  • Create, update, and maintain quality documentation, including QC reports, inspection logs, and submittal tracking.
  • Review shop drawings, material submittals, and related documents to verify compliance with project requirements.
  • Conduct preparatory, initial, and follow-up inspections for each definable feature of work.
  • Lead weekly quality meetings and distribute meeting notes to project teams.
  • Prepare daily reports documenting inspections, completed work, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
  • Verify required quality checklists before concrete placement, structural steel installation, and other critical construction activities.
  • Inspect incoming materials to ensure they match approved submittals and are stored properly before installation.
  • Coordinate pre-installation meetings with subcontractors before new work activities begin.
  • Schedule and document required building code inspections and third-party testing.
  • Monitor non-conforming work, coordinate corrective measures, and verify deficiencies have been resolved before work proceeds.
  • Perform routine field inspections to confirm construction complies with approved drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Coordinate system testing and commissioning while maintaining complete project records.
  • Prepare and manage pre-punch lists, punch lists, and final completion documentation.
  • Maintain accurate as-built drawings throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assemble project closeout packages, including warranties, operation and maintenance manuals, and final as-built documents.
  • Stop work when necessary to address safety concerns, quality deficiencies, or conditions that could impact project performance.


Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management with 10 years of directly related experience, or
  • 20 years of relevant construction experience in place of a degree.
  • At least 7-10 years of experience working for a commercial or industrial general contractor.
  • Current USACE/NAVFAC Construction Quality Management (CQM) certification.
  • Strong understanding of civil, architectural, mechanical, and electrical construction systems.
  • Knowledge of construction sequencing, scheduling, and project planning.
  • Experience managing quality documentation and project change administration.
  • Familiarity with commercial, industrial, civil, and renovation construction methods.
  • Proficiency with construction management software and standard computer applications.


Preferred Skills

  • Experience overseeing quality management throughout all phases of construction.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, inspectors, and field personnel.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.


Certifications

Qualified candidates who do not currently hold every required certification may be given up to six months to obtain applicable certifications, when permitted.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Walk active construction sites for extended periods.
  • Climb ladders and stairs throughout the workday.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Travel to project locations within the assigned service area as needed.
