The Role

The Senior Construction Engineer leads the delivery of complex telecommunications network infrastructure projects across multiple locations. Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, this role oversees projects from estimating and design through construction, acceptance, and operational handoff.

You will bring together internal teams, engineering firms, contractors, and vendors to deliver reliable fiber infrastructure that supports customers and communities. This is a work from home position within the U.S.

The Main Responsibilities

• Develop and review comprehensive project plans, including phased delivery, resource requirements, schedules, costs, risks, governance, reporting, and capital and operating budgets.
• Lead cross-functional teams of engineers, construction managers, contractors, consultants, and internal business partners through project planning and execution.
• Establish clear vendor accountabilities and drive contractors to meet quality standards, project milestones, and aggressive delivery timelines.
• Oversee network architecture, construction methodologies, material selection, acquisition, handling, field installation, testing, and project acceptance.
• Deliver assigned projects within approved scope, schedule, and budget.
• Establish performance metrics, monitor progress against project plans, and provide frequent status updates to stakeholders.
• Identify project risks, develop mitigation plans, and resolve issues affecting construction or delivery.
• Coordinate customer and operational handoffs to support successful network deployment and ongoing operations.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Minimum

• Bachelor's degree or at least five years of relevant professional experience.
• Knowledge of Outside Plant engineering standards, practices, and construction methods.
• Experience with aerial and underground telecommunications construction, including boring, trenching, duct installation, fiber pulling, and overpulling.
• Experience across the full life cycle of Outside Plant or civil construction projects, including estimating, engineering, permitting, and construction.
• Experience leading vendors, contractors, or cross-functional project teams.
• Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project skills, with experience using mapping applications.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects while maintaining schedule, scope, budget, and quality expectations.

Preferred

• Experience with civil engineering and construction for site development.
• Experience in Outside Plant operations, administration, and maintenance.
• Knowledge of fiber network management, including route planning, fiber assignments, capacity management, splicing, testing, and power requirements.
• Experience managing strategic customer relationships.
• Strong business acumen and a record of building effective working relationships across technical and operational teams.
• Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt priorities in a fast-moving environment.
• Professional, accountable, and collaborative approach to project leadership.

Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

$84,629 - $112,838 in these states: AL AR AZ FL GA IA ID IN KS KY LA ME MO MS MT ND NE NM OH OK PA SC SD TN UT VT WI WV WY
$88,860 - $118,480 in these states: CO HI MI MN NC NH NV OR RI
$93,092 - $124,122 in these states: AK CA CT DC DE IL MA MD NJ NY TX VA WA
